About Us
Founded in 1887, the Washington Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA|DC) serves the Nation's Capital, functioning as both the "local" and "state" component of the AIA for the District of Columbia. The Chapter was intimately involved in the design and planning of Washington, and continues to play an active role in city development today.
The local chapter's mission is to advance the value of architecture for our members, our profession, and our community. The chapter provides an array of different programs throughout the year, including gallery exhibitions, book signings, tours, lectures, lunchtime learning presentations, educational workshops, and many more.
Services Provided
Every year the local chapter hosts Architecture Week, which celebrates the profession with tours, lectures, and networking events in collaboration with Embassies in DC. In Fall, AIA|DC hosts our annual design expo, DesignDC. From tours of the region’s most impressive high-performance buildings, to seminars on changing your career, this conference connects attendees to cutting-edge technology, projects, practitioners and more than 70 exhibitors.
