The American Institute of Architects (AIA) is the professional association for architects and those in the architecture field. AIA Tampa Bay is the regional chapter representing approximately 650 members in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Polk, Hernando, Citrus, Sumter and Pasco Counties. The AIA provides programs and services including educational programs, design competitions, community service programs and serves as the united voice of the architecture profession. The American Institute of Architects was created in 1857 by a group of architects in Washington, D.C. The goal of the first members was to have a place where members could meet for lectures, conventions and meetings. The original 13 have grown to nearly 300 local chapters representing 80,000 licensed architects and associated professionals. AIA members adhere to a Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct that assures clients, the public and colleagues of their dedication to high standards in professional practice. Florida’s state association was formed in Jacksonville in 1912. The AIA Gulf Coast chapter represents over 100 members in Manatee, Sarasota, Highlands, Hardee, & Desoto counties.
The central purpose of the Hernando Builders Association is to represent the interests of the building industry and the interests of the general public in Hernando County. Our Goals Include: Promoting the views of the building industry within governing bodies. Improving the public perception of the industry. Establishing and maintaining high standards of professional conduct for its members. Providing forums for sharing information and enhancing professional development. Furthering social interaction and business opportunities among members and community leaders
