Land2C designed a rather intricate patio and path design for our garden carefully considering and taking advantage of the existing structures. It was intricate and turned out very well. We get positive comments on it all the time. They also provided and installed the plantings. They spent considerable time with us in planning the entire project, customizing it to our specific needs. Detailed plans were provide all along the way, with the plants and their locations in the garden and instructions for their care. The graphics were clear and easy to use. The garden continues to fulfill our expectations and draws favorable comments from our friends. They come highly recommended.

Can't recommend Kitchen Door more highly! Whatever your landscaping needs, they're professional, high quality, beautiful, and well worth the price. It was important to us to have a natural design with native and edible plants that didn't need much water. From concept to design to install, it was a truly enjoyable process. They specialize in edible landscaping (hence Kitchen Door!), but can do anything.

We moved to the Olympia area in the Fall of 2020. The house we purchased is set on one acre of wooded and open landscaping. The original owner built a stream and pond in the backyard but eventually filled in the water areas with small rocks. We saw great potential in restoring the landscape. The original patio adjacent to the pond was small and mainly occupied by a jacuzzi which disrupted the views. Several landscapers were invited to provide ideas for changing the entire layout. Ken Swarner of Room To Grow was one of them. Most of the companies were only focused on how much we were willing to spend. Some never bothered to provide quotes. Ken was different. He provided a vision for the entire backyard which included reshaping and restoring the pond area, expanding the patio, installing an outdoor fireplace, building a complete outdoor covered kitchen, and carving out a wooded nature trail. The result was truly amazing. Everyone coming to our residence is overwhelmed by the grace and beauty of Ken’s vision and creation. Here are the things which made this very complex project successful •Working together on the vision •Working a plan in stages to fit our budget •Working together in selecting materials •Working together to adjust the plan as needed as the construction took place •Fair and reasonable pricing In our opinion, the result delivered everything we envisioned and more. Our children and grandchildren absolutely love to spend time in our backyard, and it has created a harbinger for birds and butterflies which is a joy to watch. It doesn’t matter whether we are inside the house or out on the patio as the colors and shapes of the flowers, plants and trees radiate throughout and the sound of the water from the wonderful falling stream brings a calming effect. It is a haven of peace and serenity. For all the reasons above we give Ken Swarner and Room to Grow and exceptional rating. John & Debby D. Olympia

Very professional. All work was scheduled and well within the scope of what I was looking for. Great communication, checked in with updates and approval for scope of work being performed. Excellent work. Example below. Pam Hi Pam! I drew out your property to scale in AutoCAD and marked the larger trees and shrubs on site. I also added some panoramic photos I took of your property when I was there for our first meeting. This drawing will develop over time but here is the start! Are you able to give me some colors of flowers you prefer and I can start the design process by suggesting some plants by flower type? In the meantime I will be over at your property next Tuesday! Best, -Erich

We had a major remodel done at our Seattle home. Some structural concerns on the house, created some significant changes to the front yard and Lisa was recommended to assist us with sorting them out. Budget: She listened intently to our wants, was respectful of a budget that had already been over-stretched in the house remodel, she created solutions that were not just aesthetically pleasing, but ones that have truly become the major features of the front yard (who knew there could be so many!). Of all the work we had done, Lisa is the only contractor that came in with a design that was so reflective our our wants and came in on budget. Hardscape: Surrounded by an attractive, multi-level fence that Lisa designed, she created a lovely front courtyard that has a great path to the front door, a beautiful pond & waterfall that erases the noise of a busier street, creates a lovely water sound through open windows all summer long and is a treat to the neighborhood birds who bath in it daily. I addition there is a path from the front gate in cobbles and another from the driveway comprised of granite boulders. Finally, there is a small circular patio from blue-stone where we have a mall bistro table and umbrella. Plants: Lisa listened to our goals -- annuals are not our friends, we wanted color, we wanted permanent plants and as half the house has a hankering for an English garden, we wanted that "tripped over" appeal of a melding of plants. Lisa also knew that we were gardeners, we wanted to plant and we wanted to play a little on our own. She designed a great plan that was easy for us to follow, pointed out what we should get in immediately (budget constraints) and what could follow later. She gave us multiples for effect and singles where appropriate. We have, hands down, the prettiest garden in our neighborhood. it has established well of the years, requires little maintenance and has even been featured in a nationally published Landscaping book. Without hesitation or reservation, I would recommend Lisa and Banyon Tree design. In fact, we were so thrilled with Lisa's practical but pleasing approach to budget, hardscape and plants, that we engaged Banyon Tree in the creation of our weekend 'cabin'. See my 2nd review for more details on that. Finally, we have recommended LIsa to other friends, who have also engaged heavily and been equally pleased with Lisa and the outcome.

Reese Zollinger, who owns Adobe Landscaping Co., was recommended to me by a nearby neighbor. As soon as I saw the work he had done, I knew that I wanted him to design a garden for the front of my house in Seattle in the Greenwood neighborhood. Not only do I now have a beautiful garden, but Reese has gone above and beyond the call of duty, so to speak, to be sure that all the plants are healthy AND he has devoted extra hours to explain the watering system to me and be sure that I understand everything. His work is thorough, expert and he is 100% reliable. What more can you ask? Well, he's also an incredibly nice and considerate person!

I really couldn't be happier! It is rare to find people great at their craft and easy to work with. Everyone I interacted with at Sage and Stone was very professional, experienced and upfront. They were friendly and took pride in the results... which by the way, completed exceeded my expectations. I wanted to improve to my backyard, but wasn't sure how to go about designing it. Sage and Stone drafted multiple options for me. We ended up going with a hybrid of their ideas. They were able to reuse parts that they demoed (took old concrete steps, turned them sideways, and used them as part of a retaining wall - very cool) and customized the yard to the needs of my family. The put in a beautifully crafted built in bench, a patio, a new deck, a shed, and lots of fun flourishes (i.e., musical features, a sandbox under the stairs, a secret hide-out for the kids, etc.). My backyard is my new favorite "room" at my house!! In fact, I think it's the new favorite "room" for my friends and neighbors too. I couldn't recommend them more highly.

I can't recommend Micah enough. From the first call I had with him I was already excited to have him work on my yard. In addition to being responsive and knowledgeable (a minimum must with any contractor), Micah is creative and an excellent eye for what will look good. He was especially thoughtful with respect to my current yard and how we could improve on its looks as well as to how to better enjoy it. We started with my desire to have a back yard I would love and to have my overall yard complete within a budget I could live with. I don't have an eye for design but I know what I like once I see it. Micah showed me a ton of photos from other jobs which helped me decide what I wanted. In the end we had a pond-less water feature put in, a paver patio and fire pit, a path redone, and lighting added. From there, I left it up to him as to the design, placement and material. Micah added additional plants as well as moving existing plants to better suit the yard. When finished, my husband and I were thrilled with the yard, and even my husband, who wasn't sold on adding a water feature, was truly happy with it all. Micah's team who worked on our project were also first rate. In addition to being talented, they were there when they said they would be, regardless of some terrible weather, kept me well apprised of their progress, and left things cleaned up at the end of every day. I'm looking forward to better weather and the chance to enjoy our new back yard as well as working with Micah again in the future.

In Harmony Sustainable Landscapes created a beautiful and functional design for channeling roof water and water that ran down our driveway into a dry stream bed that winds through our front yard. This moderately-sized project required digging a channel through our yard and removing quite of bit of concrete in front of our carport in order for them to place channel drains. These drains connected to underground PVC sewer pipes (which they installed) that terminated at the rock-filled stream bed. Now, instead of having a flooded basement, all of the water from the driveway and roof flow into and beneath the stones in the stream bed. If there is a torrential downpour, the design allows any excess water to flow over the rocks, following the stream through the entire yard, and finally over the curb. This water eventually goes into a storm sewer at the end of our road. But, this has happen only once because the water has been absorbed by the soil in our yard. Mark Gile and one of his designers worked with us continually throughout the two-week project. One of his foremen, Poncho, was very skilled at operating all of the equipment needed for this project. He was also a wonderful problem-solver. Mark and his crew were very knowledgable, prompt, and finished the project within the deadline and at the cost agreed upon at the beginning. I would highly recommend In Harmony Sustainable Landscapes! A small glitch occurred because I kept using the term "rain garden" when I should have indicated I was visualizing a "dry stream bed." Understandably, Mark was suggesting good rain garden features while I was envisioning something a bit different. In the end, the design proved to be a very functional one, with a meandering stream bed that hosts many steam side grasses and plants whose roots, I'm sure, help cleanse the water diverted into it. People visiting our house overwhelmingly love our new stream bed and the foliage around and through it. Many wish that they had something similar in their front yard. I
