“As a Realtor we rely on other service providers in the area including contractors, inspectors , and septic service companies like Miller and Sons. In the fast paced environment that we work in to get homes to settlement on time these contractors need to be reliable. That is why I always recommend Miller and Sons septic to my buyers and sellers. They are always on time, very knowledgeable in their field of work, and they always are courteous with my buyers and sellers and are respectful of the property.”

“Action Septic Tank Service is only as good as its owner, Matt Banta. I've known him for over 2 years, I know he masters his profession and that (despite life's challenges) he comes thru time after time. Not only do you want Matt on the job as for his service, but you want him for his dependability. Thats rare, not that many don't have what it takes, just that Matt is another "sure thing." If you're a homeowner in need of a dependable Septic Tank Service man, Matt Banta is the truth.”

“We had our septic tank to back-up last year and was so worried that we were going to have to replace it or that something really BAD was wrong with our plumbing. My husband asked a few people around work who he should call and I did the same at my work. We were both told "Call Lentz Septic Services". So we did. They came out the next day and the weather was bad (cold and beginning to sleet), but the gentleman didn't complain at all. He pumped out or septic tank and told us everything that we should and should not do going forward. Gave us pellets to flush down the toilets once a quarter and left us with no worries or concerns at all. We were so grateful for them working so quickly to take care of us and the professionalism of this company even in the bad weather. It is a locally owned and operated company and we are more than happy to give the best review we possibly can! I know, being in customer service, that relationships with your customers is VERY important! We know that we WILL be going to them in the future for any needs we may have that are septic related. Thank you for such GREAT service!!!!!!”

“Very professional, got the job done quickly, and was fairly priced. My septic tank was old and Mike repaired it without having to replace the tank, which would have been much more costly.”

“I can't say enough positive things about Kelsey and A2 Septic. I specifically remember needing to get one of my client's septic tanks pumped in Eagle River; and the job needed to be done FAST. I was able to speak with Stephanie and she got the work done that afternoon. Kelsey went above and beyond to help them. He's always has a positive attitude and is eager to educate my clients on the proper care and maintenance of their septic systems. Top notch company all around.”

If your home is not on a public sewer system, you probably have a septic system to get rid of waste (anything that comes from bathtubs, toilets, sink, washing machines etc). When things aren’t working properly and the wastewater isn’t getting absorbed, this can cause a backup in the system which calls for professional septic tank pumping services. The wastewater can contain bacteria and contaminants that will destroy your yard and are unsafe for your family and pets. You can pump a septic tank yourself, but then you are responsible for safely storing and disposing of the contents you pump out, which is definitely not worth the hassle. Before you have a smelly disaster on your hands, and an environmental nightmare, it’s best to call a septic pumping company to mitigate the situation.

How often should a septic tank be pumped?

Everything that goes into your septic tank ends up in one of three layers: Solids form a layer on the bottom, liquids form a water layer in the middle, and oil and fat form a top layer. Not everything can be broken down by the bacteria living and working in the tank, so regular pumping is necessary to ensure the tank doesn’t get so full that it seeps into your home or yard. Septic tanks should be inspected annually and pumped every three to five years to avoid build-up that can clog the whole system. To nail down exactly how often your specific tank needs a pump-out, a local septic tank service can help you calculate a schedule based on your household size and tank size. Don’t let them tell you that every tank, regardless of use and size, should be “pumped every year”, as this is likely only beneficial to their pocketbooks. Look for a pro who can also repair, or at least catch, potential problems before they get out of hand while they complete the septic pumping process.

There are things you can do to prolong the amount of time you can go between a septic pump-out, such as not having a garbage disposal attached to the system and not putting anything down the toilet other than septic-safe toilet paper (not even “flushable” wipes)— you can even invest in a bidet to cut down on paper if you want. Also, invest in high-efficiency washing machines and toilets, which use less water; you’ll be happy when the next water bill shows up too! Even certain household products, like antibacterial soaps, detergents and water softeners can harm the biology of your septic tank and make it less effective, so if you have a concern it’s best to ask septic tank pumping companies in your area if the product is safe or not.
