Earth-Electric

On each step of the project I was always kept me in the loop. I was told what was going on and how it was going to work. I am very happy with my Solar and it is saving me lots and lots of money. I would recommend them to friends and family.

Sheryl and Matthew were amazing to work with. From the beginning, they were prompt, professional, and knowledgeable. They responded immediately to my request for a quote, gave me lots of information in a low-key and friendly way (I didn't feel pressured or like I was hearing a sales pitch), and provided a highly competitive quote. After meeting with another good company, I chose Earth Electric and I have been very happy with their work. They walked me through every step, took care of the permits and PG&E paperwork, did an excellent installation and left everything clean, and were wonderful to deal with every step of the way. Sheryl was so flexible and brought papers over for me to sign so I didn't have to pack up my toddler and new baby, and she and Matthew were so kind and warm to my 2 year old who was fascinated by the whole process. The system they installed has worked perfectly ever since and I would highly recommend them. It feels good to support a small business whose owners truly care about their work and their customers, and they do excellent work.

Initially, I called Earth Electric about installing some used Solar Panels based on a referral from a client who used them to correct another Solar companies bad work. From the moment i spoke with Sheryl, I could tell they were on top of things. She suggested not going with used panels since they tend to have issues later and the price of high output new panels has come down so much. She gave me several options and they even have approved 100% financing of the installation. i ended up decided to pay cash instead and get a slightly larger system. they were out in 2 days to start work once i signed the contract. it took less than two days to complete the work, the longest part being waiting on the City inspector to come out and pass the permit. It passed the first time and she completed the PGE Net metering application the next day and I am already approved 3 days later to connect to grid. They have been amazing to work with and I have already referred several people to them that were looking into getting Solar. I wish all contractors were this honest and efficient. Highly recommended!

Very professional and a joy to work with. Sized our system perfectly and saved us a lot of money. Guided us through the whole process so there were no surprises. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking to install solar.

We contracted Earth Electric to put a solar system on our Town home. They were prompt with response to email from the beginning. Sheryl and Matt were very helpful when it came to explaining the whole process from start to finish. Matt's workers were very professional and they did all the work themselves without sub-contracting anything. They were right on budget and met all expected deadlines. This was a slam dunk for us and we would not hesitate to work with them again.

Sheryl and Matthew were wonderful. We had been through several solar bids and experienced some pushy sales people. When I met Sheryl and Matthew I immediately felt comfortable. They worked to get me the best system that would meet our power needs and stay in my budget. I got a powerful system with quality products for a reasonable price. They got the whole thing up and running with a main panel upgrade and PG&E approval to operate all within a month. Matt even anticipated inspection requirements to help ensure we got our approvals. I am very pleased with their work. They also did some other electrical work on our cottage fixing a panel out there and installing outdoor lighting in our arbor picnic area as well. They stuck to the estimate quoted and are fantastic to work with. It has been great not paying PG&E for our power. 2 years later we had an issue with our envoy reporting and they came right out and fixed it with no charge. Very honorable company and that stands by their work. I call them for all my electrical needs.

Let me start out by what you won't be getting from Earth Electric. No hard-sell. Their sales person, Elvis, really knew his stuff and arrived well prepared. More important, once he realized my level of knowledge he was perfectly happy to skip over the things I already knew and focus on answering my questions. Unlike some I spoke to, he himself was a former solar installer, so he spoke from experience, not from a script. No glossy brochures. I know, it's traditional for solar companies to have glossy brochures full of pretty charts and smiling families in front of their solar home. Elvis had manufacturers spec sheets and a laptop on which he showed me web pages. If you really crave expensive glossy brochures, you'll need to look elsewhere. High prices. I'd heard from others that Earth-Electric was competitive, and so they were in my case, substantially less expensive than my other top candidate. I guess they saved money by not printing glossy brochures. Subcontractors. Most solar companies hire subcontractors. Matthew (the owner) did the site survey himself and was there during the first part of the install and the inspection (more on that later). The entire team works for Earth-Electric, and they were great. What do you get with Earth Electric? Let me give it to you in a nutshell: The installation, scheduled for 3 days, took only 2. From signed contract to permission to operate from PG&E took less than a month! Seriously - I signed the contract on 10/24 and permission to operate arrived on 11/23. A lot of the credit goes to Sheryl, who doesn't waste any time getting the paperwork done (especially with regards to permits and PG&E - I didn't have to do a thing beyond authorizing Earth-Electric to handle the paperwork). I originally choose Earth Electric because I like supporting local businesses and Matthew (the owner) teaches Solar Installation at a local community college. I figure anyone who can teach installation probably know something about doing it. How right I was did not become obvious until the city inspection. We got the head electrical inspector for the city who was also doing a training that day. So it was a serious inspection. Soon after beginning it turned into an odd game of jeopardy. Matthew would whisper an answer in my ear a few seconds before the inspector would ask the question. It became quickly obvious that he and the inspector both knew their subject - especially towards the end when they started geeking out about changes to the electrical code and how that would be impacting future installations. Towards the end the inspector pulled me aside and had a few choice words about some of the other contractors he had to deal with - it's pretty clear he was having a good time and had a great deal of respect for Matthew. Needless to say, the install passed easily. When you buy solar, you're buying both equipment and the services of an installer, with the latter I think being the scarier and more important choice. Be sure you talk to Earth-Electric before you make your final decision. You won't regret it.
