“The fantastic group at VBDB remodeled the kitchen in our apartment. We have a small little kitchen area and there was not a lot of room to work with. Their designer gave us drawings and ideas as to maximize the space we were stuck with but giving it a much bigger feel, and gave us recommendations on new appliances to match with the design that were in our price range. Our project was completed in a timely manner, with a very clean work site and nice, responsible people on site at all times. I really respect the attitudes of Zak and Brandon, and they were a pleasure to deal with, very clear, very direct, and their work is unbeatable. We recommend and would not hesitate to use again!”

“I hired Michael LoBuglio to design our new open concept kitchen, removing a wall and opening it up to our dining room and living room. I am thrilled with the results! Throughout the project Michael was professional, knowledgeable, and, lucky for me, extremely patient. He has an amazing ability to visualize, offering ideas I would have never thought of to arrange appliances, windows, and doors to make maximum use of space for cabinetry, as well as an island that was a must-have. I recommend Michael LoBuglio for any architectural project – large or small. He has an impressive portfolio, and he is a pleasure to work with.”

“Clawson Architects is an impressive group of professionals from top to bottom. My home (1749) presents challenges architecturally and esthetically. Clawson guided construction on the interior and exterior, and took a real stake in both projects, honoring my home for the treasure it is. I find Clawson to be price-sensitive, reliable and capable of getting the best job done on budget.”

“Paredes-Grube designed an addition to our 1930's Dutch-Colonial home. Xiomara, the principal architect, was wonderful to work with. Her ideas about space, especially in terms of how the flow of a busy family home should work, were insightful. Most importantly for us, the new space (kitchen, family room, mudroom, and master bed/bath on second floor) seems to blend perfectly with the old. You would never know that the new space wasn't part of the original home. The architectural details make everything seamless. We are so happy that we chose Paredes-Grube Architecture. They were extremely professional, listened to our needs and delivered a masterful plan. We love our new home and couldn't be happier with the outcome.”

“As an Architectural Lighting Designer for nearly 30 years, I have had the opportunity to work with many world known architects and Chuck's (Charles Hilton's) name should be included in that list. His work is elegant and refined. Even the most challenging restraints result in beautifully proportioned and workable designs. His steadfast drive for excellence and realizing his client's dreams is accomplished through highly detailed construction documents (every room elevated and every detail described) and attention to detail. But Chuck can also think fast, resolving design problems with a quick pencil sketch in the field or at the conference table. He is an excellent leader and has a seemingly endless knowledge of all things architectural. I consider myself fortunate to have worked with Chuck on so many beautiful projects and I feel that working with him has made me a better designer. Gary Novasel, Patdo Light Studio”

“My husband and I hired Cindy Boerner to draw architectural plans to renovate our circa 1959 center hall colonial. It was an extensive project. We were very pleased with Cindy's competence and professionalism. She met all deadlines on budget and provided valuable guidance about bringing our outdated home into the 21st century. She was thorough and didn't miss a detail. With construction finished, we love our beautiful, comfortable, and convenient house. Thank you, Cindy!”

“We hired Gary on two occasions, in 2005 and 2012. The first was when we initially bought a 1957 mid-century modern ranch home in South Orange. The home was in terrible shape as the original owner, from whom we bought it, had quit caring for the home. It needed a major renovation in about 50% of the home, if not more. Gary managed the project from start to finish for us. He did the drawings, found the contractor, and oversaw the renovation from start to finish. This included a total renovation of the kitchen, three bathrooms, fireplace and some of the living room, laundry room/playroom, "au pair" bedroom conversion to extend the den/TV room and bar area, and major renovation of a transition to a patio. It was a huge project and took several months. When we first moved in we were in the process of selling a condominium just as the market was turning in 2005. For about a year we carried, to our chagrin, two mortgages -- the new home with which Gary was helping us renovate and our old condo. As a result our initial plans for our new home renovation had to undergo a host of modification to reflect an increasing cost burden of carrying two mortgages. I mention this because Gary was incredibly helpful and supportive as we tried to find ways to retain the look and feel of our initial plans while scaling back overall cost. This is, among other wonderful traits, Gary's greatest asset as an architect. He is very resourceful and is able to offer "outside the box" ideas that meet the aesthetic goals you have as a homeowner. For example, we ended up dramatically scaling back on the renovation of our fireplace, which is a huge focal point of our living room. We decided we would do something very affordable in the short term but once we were in the home for a few years we would revisit it to make it look exactly as we wished. The result of this initial renovation thanks to Gary's work was the total rehabilitation of a beautiful, and rare, mid-century modern ranch home. I cannot possibly explain just how dilapidated this historic home was when we bought it. Then 6-years later we called Gary again to renovate the fireplace and other aspects of the living room exactly as we originally had planned, and to help with a couple of other renovations we had excluded from the initial move in. Again, Gary was sensational with this smaller project and what we have now is nothing short of an amazing living room that exceeds our original idea. Again, we collaborated with Gary on design as well as function, and his insights led to a much better, more authentic and beautiful renovation than we originally had in mind. The best part, we ended up with a project that came in well below our original budget. We could not have achieved this without him. Gary is much more than just an architect. He has tremendous design sensibility and is a very effective project manager. He knows how to work with contractors and protect the client's interests (something, based on conversations with friends who have renovated their own homes, is not to be taken for granted). In my experience, contractors can be dismissive of a design decision, and they are not as detail oriented as an architect, and they will sometimes attempt to cut corners in order to generate more profit for themselves or make the work easier for themselves (this was something for which Gary intervened with regard to some electrical on some lighting and the installation of some Kalwall panels). The value of an architect like Gary is he ensures the job is completed exactly as planned and, to be frank, he may even end up paying for his own fees with his ideas, many of which reduce the overall cost of the project. One last thing, Gary has on a few occasions had informal follow-up consultations with us on ideas for beautifying our home that did not require drawings or project oversight, such as choosing a paint color for the exterior, selecting grass paper wall covering, considering types of garage doors we might buy for replacement, and so forth. In other words, Gary is not an architect who is going to abandon a client or project the moment his official services are completed, nor is he going to nickel and dime his clients. We have thoroughly enjoyed working with Gary and now consider him a friend and I wholeheartedly recommend his services to anyone. N.B.: I believe our project will be on Gary's personal website for anyone to review.”

“I found Ben Herzog Architects while browsing I would add photos to my ideabook and discovered that most of the projects were done by Ben! Ben has been great helping us decide how we can maximize space in our 1917 Brooklyn row house. We have decided on a more open floor plan, new wood plank floors, high hat lighting, a bit larger kitchen space with higher ceiling and an island, a shallow broom closet and banquette seating in our dining room. The demolition began 9/5/12 and as a result we have discovered that we can open up the doorway openings even more than planned! Ben is happily revising his drawings and I can't wait to see the changes! Ben and his team are easy to work with and very helpful with design and product ideas while keeping our budget in mind!”
