We believed you were satisfied with the finished project because we never received any notice from you stating that there was an issue within 48 hours from the day of completion, as it states on your signed contract. When, Steve, the owner called you several months after we finished asking you for the overdue payment, that was the first time you mentioned there were issues. Steve agreed to come to your house to take a look at your "issues." He also said if there were truly any issues he would take care of them. He tried to set up an appointment with you for the next day, at which time, you told him, "you made me wait for my job now it's your turn to wait to get paid." Each time you were called to reschedule you did not get back to us, weeks turned into months. Clearly, if you had issues to resolve you would have found time to meet with the owner.
As far as the amount of $10,000 being worth 1/3 of what we charge, no one forced you to hire us. I am sure you had several quotes besides ours and realized our price was fair and just. We always provide the highest quality work on all jobs and that includes yours. You, yourself, praised the workmanship of our installer and the final outcome of the job. When I called to see how the job was going you told us that you liked the installer very much and that he was doing a great job. He told me that you and he had an excellent relationship and you were very satisfied with his work. He even showed me the many personal texts you were sending back and forth. I would think you would have told him you had issues with the job if you actually did.
Your statement about us having your money and plans for over a year is also not true. We were not the company you hired to build your stairs. You only hired us to do your rails. The house was field measured on March 8, 2016 and the first proposal was sent March 28 after a few weeks of design discussion. The final contract was emailed to you on May 5 and we received your deposit check dated May 6 on May 25.
To address some of your false grievances, let us begin with samples. The boat cleats and nautical rope that were used in your project were bought to match the photo you provided to our salesman as closely as possible. Since the picture you provided was out of focus we did our best to scale the boat clamps, the rope diameter, and determine the type of rope and finish of the cleats to achieve the look you wanted. Our contract clearly states the rope would be 3/4 in diameter and for the hardware no sizes were listed, just boat cleats and hooks. Nowhere on the contract does it state samples would be provided. Furthermore, you were at the site the day the installer began putting in the rope and cleats. If they were incorrect and not to your liking wouldn't you mention it at that time so we could make any changes you wanted.
The rope was ordered and when it arrived it was not up to our standards so we did have to reorder it. Although it did not take 4 weeks as you claim, it took a few days. In fact, while we were waiting for the new rope to arrive and to not hold up your inspections we installed wood balusters so you could get your inspection, in which you did pass. We then came back to install the rope railings at which time my installer realized he needed a different odd sized fostner bit that we have never needed before and did not have. Again, this did not add weeks. At that time the job was completed and you did not contact Legacy Stairs about any issues.
As far as our photos on HOUZZ, each and every project posted is our personal work! Therefore, it is yet another statement that is a complete lie and will be ruled as libel. We will address this matter in the near future through another avenue. On a final note, It's amazing how you state how many compliments you get until they look close up. Unfortunately, that was your finisher's work, not ours. Once again, please refer back to your signed contract in which it clearly states: "plugged, stained, and painted by others." Ultimately, we stand behind our work 100%.
