Contact Broward Concrete
I have been in the paving, concrete and pavers business in Broward County since 1999. My business is low-tech in that I don’t rely on online advertising and forward marketing. Instead, I rely on my reputation. In the nearly two decades I have operated in Broward, this is the first time I receive a negative - and outwardly duplicitous - review.
Rick claims that my team trashed his yard. What he neglects to mention is what was central to the first phase of our agreement. Rick asked me to remove the stump of about 100 year old, 21-foot in diameter hole from his yard. My team did so. Rick claimed to be landscaping professional. As any landscaping professional should know, the root system of a tree can be expected to be as expansive and wide-reaching as a tree’s canopy. Accordingly, the “trashing” of his yard through upheaval of roots was at Rick’s request.
Pursuant to any stump removal operation, we cleaned the site to the extent possible. Rick requested that we move rocks and gravel accumulated from the removal process to the area in front of his garage. Just before Hurricane Irma Rick called me and vulgarly stated something to the effect of “get you a** over here and move this f****** pile of rocks.” His wife, a very kind and gracious woman, apologized on his behalf on multiple occasions. She specifically apologized for his impatience. I maintained that I can tolerate impatience, but I cannot tolerate blatant and aggressive disrespect, hostility, and vulgarity.
Last, the delay with respect to Rick’s permit was caused by the City of Ft. Lauderdale’s delay in processing. The city is open about disclosing that the permitting process can take up to 90 days. I was never notified by the city about the approval of the permit, which is unlike the City of Ft. Lauderdale as I have dealt with them for nearly 20 years. I suspect that Hurricane Irma’s aftermath, and the chaos it caused on the city’s building department, was partly to blame for their delay and not notifying me.
When Rick advised that he would be hiring another contractor, I attempted to deliver the pavers he purchased. He advised that I should not deliver as he would refuse any pavers - which he did pay for.
As Rick mentioned, he did call the police to issue a complaint. The officer investigating concluded that this was a civil matter - there was no crime committed, and Rick’s misinterpretations can be pursued through civil court.
