Concepts In Concrete

We hired Steve to do a large commercial retail store job. He talked us out of stained concrete and into epoxy that would, in his words, "look like marble and be indestructible." After the first application there were serious issues - it looked like someone had just applied some silver over gray with a roller, and there were a lot of bubbles in the finish. They came back out, sanded it down, and tried again. This time there were even more bubbles as well as large areas of uncured resin - sticky goop that I could pick out with a fingernail. He blamed the weather, the preparation of the underlying concrete (which *they* did), and my budget and refused to take any responsibility, ultimately refusing to answer phone calls or refund any of my money (even though the deposit paid was for the whole job, and they had only completed 1/3). Ultimately had another company come in and fix his terrible work, but now only two months later, his original epoxy floor is coming up. He still won't return calls from either me or my general contractor. I think he's shut the business down and retired, but if Concepts in Concrete resurfaces, just walk away. Update 11/7/2022: the floor continues to come free of the underlying concrete all over the store.

When debating what to do with our dingy, poorly done, stained concrete floors in our entry way, master bedroom and master closet, we immediately started looking into the concrete experts around Houston. I mean, stained concrete is by far the easiest to take care of maintenance wise! We came across Concepts in Concrete and I gave them a call and told the owner, Steve, what we were looking to do. I sent him some pictures of my existing space and he recommended that we go with this new style of metallic epoxy flooring. He sent me to his page on Houzz to look at pictures, and I immediately loved what I saw. What a fun new way to do concrete! Steve then set up some time and came out to the house to give us a quote. Once a price was agreed upon, we started the process. First, the floors had to be completely sanded down. Then a base coat is laid down. That dries for a day and then the next day they come back to lay down the epoxy top. This is when the floors start turning into art work. I will say, that we did run into some trouble trying to get the color right. After all was said and done, our floors had to be done 3 times before we got the color right. Although frustrating, Steve was very helpful and offered to fix it until we were happy. That was a lot of supplies and labor! We really appreciated the customer service. We understand that not everything is predictable, especially when combing colors to get a certain look, but we thank him and his team for their patience throughout it all. The floors are beautiful and I definitely recommend this Company!

We used CIC after getting 5 bids to have our patio resurfaced. We had a stamped concrete patio that had been painted numerous times. Steve is very busy so we spent some time getting a date for our job. After settling on a date, the first crew showed up. They did an OK job, however, we were not pleased with the result from the initial stain. It was too light and not applied properly. Also, the initial crew were sloppy and we had old paint splattered all over our newly painted doors and ceiling for our patio. Also, the initial crew compromised the paint job on the iron railing that surrounds our patio. After contacting Steve, he sent another crew out. The second crew did a very nice job and we were ultimately pleased with the result. However, the second crew filled in an expansion joint with some type of rubber material and tried to apply stain to it. Hello! That didn't work real well; can't apply stain to rubber. We provided some old paint, which they used and then applied stain to that. Overall, I would use Steve again because his price was very competitive and he is very customer service oriented. However, let the buyer beware. Steve's employees need better training. These people need to be watched while they are doing the work. I'm just glad that we are retired and could watch what was being done.
