Southern Pool Designs

Requested proposal and quote for pool, deck and screen. This was a $100k plus project. Provided rough design, survey and meet their designer on site. Gave up after 2.5 months of emails and phone calls requesting updates. Company did reach out to me after writing this review and wanted to make it right. I have already chosen another company and perhaps my experience with this company was not typical.

First, we had 4 different pool companies come to the house and design “our” concept with estimates. Southern Pool Designs (SPD) were not the cheapest (although not far off from the cheapest), but gave us the best value for a very nice custom pool/outdoor living space. They had plenty of samples and literature for every piece of the materials we were interested in having. The process we went through w SPD was more than pleasant. Tom Henning (designer) spent several hrs working w our concept and what they (SPD) could provide within our budget. We made various changes w the materials we wanted (travertine tile, glass tile, pool finish, natural stone, built in grill/refrigerator combo, screen enclosure). We were also able to upgrade screening and much nicer screws (non rust) for the screen enclosure. Larry who oversaw project is who I dealt with day to day was perfect for me. Larry didnt always give me the answer I wanted, but always gave me truth serum and reasons why some things seemed delayed or took time. Anytime there was an issue (which was always something small, but I treated as a big deal) Larry or Tom were always on top of it and gave me a timeframe/plan to remedy the situation. Ramone (stone/tile guy) was phenomenal. His attention to detail and craftsmanship was unbelievable. So thankful to have had Ramone do that particular work. Having this project be our second (first pool was in Chicago and was not gunite) we had a different experience. The project is done in stages, so there are sometimes weeks between stages (which can be a bit frustrating at times - patience is not a virtue of mine). All in all we are more than happy with our final product. We look forward to many enjoyable days/nights in our outdoor living space provided by all of the fantastic people of Southern Pool Designs.

We recently completed the construction of a new home. The center piece of the new home is the outdoor lanai, pool and spa. Southern Pool Design (SPD) was terrific. The staff were patient and creative as we considered several different designs SPD suggested for us. Construction was timely, professional and complete. We especially appreciate the extensive post-construction follow-up, orientation, instructions and adjustments to various features and settings. Very pleased with the overall process and outcome.

Southern Pool Designs was extremely professional and knowledgeable from initial design to completion of project. Quality of build was exceptional. All deadlines were met and built within budget. We hired Southern Pool Designs based on a neighbor recommendation. They were easy to work with, and kept me updated along the way. One thing I appreciated about them is that they invested the time in finding out what we were looking for without having to show them our funds first (other local companies wouldn’t discuss anything until they knew our financing was settled). That and the staff there were ultimately what led us to use them. We’ve been happy with the response time on questions and concerns since the pool was built, and happy with the pool itself.

One of the very best decisions we made while doing an extensive renovation/addition to our river home was to hire Southern Pool Designs. The pool and spa exceeded our expectations, and one of the only things we didn't lose sleep over while in the building process.
