“We used Motawi field and polychrome tiles in two kitchen backsplashes, and polychrome tiles decoratively in the tilework in a half bath. Motawi was extremely easy to work with and very patient with our requests. The tile is handmade to order so it is important to allow lead time. The price for the field tiles was a bit daunting but you get tiles selected to match to your criteria as to pattern, darkness of glazing, and tile-to-tile variation, and they even send you a few extra tiles! For my relatively small kitchen backsplashes, darker-towards-the-edges glazing of each tile adds subtle interest. We created "borders' using half-height tiles offset by half a tile width to avoid the "busy-ness" from using border tiles of a contrasting color. The triptych above the stove mimics the view behind the condo which is visible from the kitchen. Seven years after the renovation the tilework still gives me daily pleasure - absolutely worth the cost! For the bathroom, we used Motawi polychrome tiles placed as accents set among typical commercially-available field tile (to save money). We debated using more polychrome tile accents in both the bathroom and the kitchen, but in the end opted for simplicity, which was the right decision. Hubbardton Forge fixtures complement the tiles. The attached snapshots are poorly lit and do not do the tilework justice, but they give a rough idea of the project.”

“I recently renovated my apartment and, unfortunately, the original contractor did a really abysmal job on the tiles, both kitchen backsplash and bathroom. I checked this website and others and found Expert Tile and contacted Greg, the owner. He responded promptly and sent over Serge, the project manager, to do an evaluation and give me an estimate. I hired them and have to say, now that the project is done, I made the right choice. They did a terrific job, they did it on time and their superior skills and care showed every step of the way. They really did make a silk purse out of a sow's ear and restored my faith in home renovators. They also cleaned up daily (there was a fair amount of dust and chaos) and the bathroom and backsplash now look terrific. The work was painstaking because already installed tiles had to be removed without breakage. I would like to thank Serge and Vito and his co-worker (can't remember his name) for all of their hard work and their professionalism. I would hire these guys again in a heartbeat.”

“Marcos and Bruno are true professionals who went above and beyond to get the job done right. They redid 3 of my bathrooms and their tile work is superb. I am picky and have lots of mosaic tile in my house, the material is expensive and needs to be done right and they did it perfectly. Marcos is more of a perfectionist than I am, noticed a trim around a doorway that he wanted replaced so that tiling would be perfectly symmetric. They always arrived when they said, cleaned up each day so that we never even really felt the fact that we were redoing 3 bathrooms at once, something that would be a nightmare with most people.
