Antonella Romano, Owner of Stone & Tile Emporium in Wyckoff, Builds Successful Business on a Lifetime of Experience and Charitable Work. She knows her way around the industry inside and out, top to bottom. In fact, she was groomed since her early teen year to take over her family’s stone and tile business. As a third generation tile designer from a legendary Italian stone manufacturing family known for such achievements as introducing granite countertops to the United States in the 1970s. A stone and tile specialist who is an expert on every aspect of the business- from design and installation to geology and fabrications.
Born in Italy and emigrating to the United States as a young girl, Antonella started working in her father’s Stone company as a teenager. Her early business experience, her in-depth knowledge of stone and tile, and her interior design training at the NYC School of Interior Design, all came together in 2005 when Romano left the family business and opened her own company; Stone & Tile Emporium Inc.
She has a unique way in working with clients, which includes CAD drawings of each custom project for homeowners, builders and architects, which is not an industry norm; visits to job sites to ensure installations align with original plans; and plenty of time with clients as needed. Residential jobs include full kitchen and bath renovations with all manner of stone and tile work in ceramic, glass and clay; inlaid mosaics; fireplaces; and artistic, textural interpretations on floors and walls. She counts New York celebrities Joan Hamburg of WOR radio and Marv Scott, a news anchor on Channel 11, as two of her satisfied celebrity customers who sought out her talents. Others include: Talk show hosts, politicians, and many other TV and music personalities.
Antonella also enjoys giving back. She was responsible for donating all the materials for bathrooms and flooring at the Oasis for women and children in Paterson, a shelter for women and children. She also gives her time to non-profit foundations close to her heart, such as Spring Lake Toys Foundation and Durga Tree International.
“We had nothing when we came to America,” noted Romano. “Now that I am in the position to help others, I am eager to give back to society and telling my story, and using my skills and experience to make a difference in the lives of others.”
