Very disappointed. Came highly recommended, did not live up to the recommendation. Ordered tile along with decorative tile for a bathroom remodel. Edging was out of stock. Tile delivered to store was cracked. Decorative tile was ordered as insufficient quantity after discussing plans for. Delays caused much frustration and burdens upon my contractor and myself. I was forced to buy another decorative tile to finish job as tile was mapped out to include. Mismatching tiles as a result. Had to pickup replacement tiles when they finally arrived. Left work early to pick up since they have limited hours . My project was delayed 2 days, with no shower for a family of 6. I spoke with Karen regarding compensation, I was given a tile cleaner!. As a specialist in her field, she fell short. When discussing the miscalculation of the decorative tile, she alluded that a different plan (waterfall patten) was discussed. Instead of admitting to a mistake she blamed the customer.

Karen’s creativity, keen eye, and sense of calm resulted in a timeless, classy, creative, and innovative home. She listened, envisioned, and enhanced while guiding me to a spectacular home which I absolutely love!! Truly an outstanding, gifted designer who is extremely professional!! She’s simply tops!!

We gutted our 1930 house down to the studs and rebuilt it adding 1200 square feet... we had a kitchen, foyer, mudroom, laundry room, fireplace and 3 bathrooms that needed tiling. Karen's calm, confident nature coupled with her invaluable institutional knowledge were critical in helping us design our dream home! Upon recommendations from neighbors and our decorator, my husband and I went to Homestone Gallery for help in selecting the tile for our kitchen remodel project. Karen Mattoon and her staff were wonderful not only in helping us pick out the right tile, but also in designing the cook top back splash which we love. They also led us to the excellent contractor who did the work. We were so pleased with everything Karen did for us that we returned to Homestone Gallery again when we remodeled our bathroom, which we just completed. The entire staff was helpful, courteous, and knowledgeable and we were very satisfied with all they did for us.

We have a traditional 19th century servant's kitchen, which is actually 5 small inefficient rooms, entirely unsuitable for modern living. After removing walls, to pull it all together, we wanted a floor that says, "Wow!" I visited Homestone Gallery because my designer said they had a good selection. I got a lot more than a good selection. One of us is a New Englander and the other is South American so there is a difference in styles. Working with Karen, we decided on traditional encaustic tile, which is appropriate to the period of the house and can look either Victorian or high Spanish. She carried a large number of samples, but none was exactly in the color palette that we were looking for. Karen pulled out her colored pencils and worked with us, creating a color scheme that was perfection. She is very talented and creative, and she took a lot of time with us. We arrived at exactly what we were dreaming about. Karen managed to delight both of us -- and at no additional cost. The samples are on order now. Basically, our entire kitchen remodel is based on this gorgeous tile. We joke that we will tell people that we pulled up eight layers of old linoleum and found the original encaustic tile underneath in pristine condition. Without Karen's expert guidance, we never would have arrived at this perfect solution, and nobody else in the region has such an expansive selection. I cannot recommend this business highly enough. Karen knows tile; she has exquisite taste; and she understands customer service.
