Ph.D. Design Inc.
Historic Building Conservation Companies in Toronto
Average rating: 4 out of 5 starsJune 13, 2014
“We wanted a modern house that was spectacular, but also comfortable to live in. We were working with a 27' wide urban lot, which already had a 1926 vintage home on it-not really a blank slate. Through a collaborative process with architect Peter Marzinsky and his designer, Meredith Ellacott, we believe we have achieved our goals. Peter and Meredith were respectful of our taste, needs and budget, and brought all of their creative energy to the project. Our friends and neighbours say 'wow', 'spectacular', 'amazing' and we enjoy living in this work of art every day.”
BLDG Workshop Inc.
Historic Building Conservation Companies in Toronto
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsAugust 7, 2013
“We can highly recommend BLDG Workshop with complete confidence. In contrast to the many bumps along the way of our renovation and addition, the design process was exciting and enjoyable. Nathan and his team of professionals were timely and efficient, good at communication, and willing to work with the trades we had hired; however, their best attribute is of course their smart, inspired design! Our favourite part of working with BLDG was the collaborating... they are the experts but they listened to our ideas and were excellent at incorporating our whims and wishes. We will definitely be contacting BLDG the next time we build!”

“I hired William Dewson Architects to design a summer cottage in Georgian Bay on a 5 acre island. Our first challenge was to figure out the site plan and where to put the cottage given numerous zoning restrictions and other natural fators. Bill and his team were great to work with throughout the whole process of defining the best site and then brainstorming the design that best suited our family asthetic. Bill's charismatic enthusiasm made our meetings fun and creative, we were all very happy with the end result and thoroughly enjoyed the design experience from start to finish.”

Geometra Design Ltd.
Historic Building Conservation Companies in Toronto
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsNovember 8, 2012
“I hired Gabriele and his company, Geometra Design in June 2012 to design a 3,500 square foot, 2 storey home that I will be building in south Etobicoke. Gabriele was able to complete concept design, committee of adjustment application and meeting, building permit design and application in less then 5 months. He was able to accomodate all aspects of the building permit requirements, including mechanical engineer, structural engineer and final renderings. His professionism and approach to the project, including deadlines was unsurpassed. He was able to facilitate all my needs, from design to building permit application (which in Toronto in not easy). His knowledge of the new digital building permit application requirements, made my application process very easy. I was told at the City of Toronto building department that most people do not have all the documents in the required format, but my application was perfect. I am very pleased with his work ethic and ability to respond to all requests. He was very easy to work with and I would recommend Gabriele and his company to anyone who is looking for a knowledgable architect, who can take any project from start to finish with ease. I look forward to working with him again soon. Gino C - Wynford Homes Ltd.”

gene mastrangeli design

“Gene was exceptionally professional. We were looking for a creative designer to help us build our home in an unusual residential/commercial setting. Gene's design included a floorplan for 2 storey's of residential space which included a kitchen, 2 bathrooms, 3 bedrooms and millwork throughout. His attention to detail and finishes is above and beyond. We were keen on avoiding box store finishes and Gene was very willing to help us secure options within our budget. Gene's knowledge of the construction aspect of the design was key and he was open to being on-site to help throughout the job. I would (and I have) recommend Gene.”

“Timing: quick to respond and turn around at all stages of the 200k home reno Consultation: good listener and incorporated our wish list into drawings; made some additional suggestions and revised to final spec. Design: brought our vision to life from initial sketches to drawings issued for construction; 3rd Party Coordinator: handled electrical engineer and helped with GC convos; very collaborative with trades; Trustworthy, knowledgeable and professional at all times. Advisor and coach: helped us navigate difficult situations; recommended material sources; went beyond the call of duty at committee of adjustment hearing to defend our design and get approval; Available in timely manner for all stages of renovation; I would work with Atelier Pool again. I would do a better job at managing scope of work / cost - approx. 30k for services, including initial design work, engineer and ongoing consultation.”
Lindy Architect
Historic Building Conservation Companies in Toronto
Average rating: 5 out of 5 starsSeptember 13, 2013
“We engaged Lindy Consulting to provide some plans to renovate the 3rd floor of our house which was an unused portion of our house which contained two bedrooms and which we were using as additional storage space. Our plan was to move our master bedroom to this space and add a full washroom. We met with Steven and Annette to discuss our ideas and how we envisaged the space and our estimated budget. They came back to us the following week with some preliminary sketches that impressed us. We then gave them the mandate to prepare full drawings and once approved by us, they managed the project from completing the drawings, getting them approved, and seeing the project through to completion. We were quite hands-on in the decision making but they truly took ownership of the project and had our best interests in mind throughout. Although we ended up spending more than we budgeted (which was as a result of our decision to upgrade bathroom appliances, flooring etc.), we are really pleased with the final result.”
