“I contacted Evan Dyer initially to look at building a Post and Beam home in Camden, Me. After looking at the entire project, I decided to purchase and existing home. I asked Evan if he would look at an existing Post and Beam house and review the renovations I wanted. He met me at the house and walked me through the areas of concern and things to consider in renovating a Post and Beam home. (Trust me there are major differences.) Based on working with Evan I felt I could purchase the home and do the renovations within my budget. I contracted with Evan to manage the renovations. He was responsive, had good ideas and was able to provide an insight that is unique to Post and Beam construction. “John created a wonderful Maine Beachouse for us to entertain and eventually retire in. Working with strict EPA limitations he created, instead of a typical rectangular home facing south, a home of four staggered rectangles facing the southwestern ocean views. On the main floor, one is awed by the views and entertainment space but is unaware that there is a whole other wing on the main floor for our master bedroom and office. The second floor has its own entertainment space, bedrooms and a screened in room for our large family and visitors. John's tastes are of deep rich architectural details in continuity with modern design with a Maine flavor, from curved nautical doors to copper roofing. John is very confident in his work but also listens to our thoughts. When the DEP refused to allow outer decking on the upper floor we suggested to move a bathroom to an existing reading room and create a screened in room. We were all thrilled with John's redesign. John met deadlines , was on budget and was excellent working with town and DEP officers.”

“We have hired LakeHouse Design Build for several major projects at our lakeside cabin in Belgrade, Maine, and have been thrilled with the work done. Projects included a complete rebuild of portions of the main floor, including a new entrance porch, redesigned kitchen, bathroom, interior stairways, shelving, wiring updates, exterior patio, exterior stairways, and others. The work done was based on our wishes and requirements, but the design and details primarily reflected Mr. Bill Hudson's unique skills as a builder and designer. He was able to identify options that did not occur to us, and came up with designs that preserved the old camp character of the building while incorporating the modernization and comfort we sought. He was very skilled at managing modifications to cope with engineering and other challenges discovered in dealing with an 80+ year old cabin. Mr. Hudson's work reflects a remarkable attention to detail and quality. He is meticulous, careful, and will not accept poor quality work or materials. He does virtually all the work himself or with some assistance, and does not leave things to subcontractors in his absence. He communicated with us frequently and in detail, including regular photo project reports. He promptly involved us in any decisions, changes, or other planning information as the project progressed. His results have been wonderful for us - and are the source of constant favorable comments from neighbors, visitors, and others. We initially learned of his work from several neighbors whose projects reflected similar quality work from him. After researching area contractors before engaging this work, I had no doubt he was the best choice for our projects. We would hire him again for additional work without hesitation, and I have no reservations in recommending him to others.”
