Like many homeowners in America we have been trying to catch up on deferred maintenance over the past 5 months. We had three double hung windows with broken sash cords that we have been putting up with for years. Fresh Air Sash came out on Monday and Tuesday of this week and got things working right.
Highlights:
The upper and lower sashes in all three windows raise and lower easily and don't require a stick or shoe box to keep open.
Clean, clean, clean. My wife was all ready with a vacuum and wet rag to clean all the dust and debris she just knew would be there when Fresh Air was done. The rooms were so clean that she didn't have to vacuum or dust. She was very happy about this.
Covid 19 procedures fully in place and in practice.
The crew was very courteous.
This was probably the best contractor experience we have ever had. I hire them again in a heartbeat.

We have a 110 year old Portland home. None of the upstairs windows functioned properly, i.e. upper half painted shut, wrong weights, missing glazing, etc. Patty and crew restored all nine original windows upstairs, so they are fully functioning. We couldn't be happier. The original windows have a lot of character so we did not want to replace them with new windows. In addition, I estimated that Fresh Air's cost is about half or less what it would cost to have premium wood windows installed to match the originals. The crew was really nice and did a great job every afternoon cleaning up. They work in a containment area and there was no dust. Highly recommend.

Excellent service! We can finally get some fresh air in all the rooms with windows that open smoothly and stay open. Very thorough, careful and cleaned up each day. If it weren’t for the windows working so well we wouldn’t have known they had been worked on. Thank you! Patty and your wonderful team

I'm thrilled with Patty and her team's restoration of my windows! I've just had one set of windows repaired so far, in a large bedroom. It's like they closed the door to that room, worked some Hogwart's magic, and when they threw the door open again, everything was perfect. It's really amazing to have those absolutely gorgeous, historic windows operating like they're brand-new. And it's the most lovely feeling to have had the Fresh Air crew preserve and restore them to function as they were intended, vs. replacing them with modern crap. Now all the other beautiful but rickety, worn-out windows in my home are begging for the same care!

Patty, and her team, Pavel and Kay, were a pleasure to work with. They were efficient, professional, and easy to have in our house. They went out of their way to make the process easier for us (or old house has only one bathroom, and they scheduled that day to our convenience). We got seven windows working, top and bottom, the first time in the thirty years we have lived here. The previous owners put in some vinyl windows upstairs, and they are just ugly. Now our old windows, downstairs, are beautiful.

Patty and her crew just finished bringing new life to 13 original windows in our 1905 Transitional Victorian. We are thoroughly impressed and happy with the exceptional quality of work and experience! Patty was upfront with all work and costs. Communication was provided on a daily basis on the status and progress. The crew was very friendly and extremely respectful of the house. They even let our cats out of the basement and dog in after work was completed for the day! We could not be any happier with our experience and results!

Very professional with great communication and setting reasonable expectations. Patty and the work crew were very thorough with prepping and cleaning up after the work was done. Best of all, we now have fully working vintage windows, knowing that it was repaired the right way.

I am so impressed by the professionalism of this small company and with the quality of its work.
Before starting work on 17 windows in my 1923 bungalow, Patty Spencer gave me a detailed description of the work, including a precise timeline of what to expect every day. I could have set my watch based on the crew's arrival time, and they left the rooms spotlessly clean at the end of each day.
And what a thrill to be able to open so many windows, top and bottom. I couldn't be happier with the outcome.

Believe the hype about Fresh Air Sash. It's all true -- Patty and her team are window whisperers for old windows. Long after they have come and gone, leaving your house with its old rippled glass intact, you will find yourself dragging neighbors and houseguests from window to restored window, demonstrating how, with just a single finger, you can now raise and lower both the upper and lower sashes. Before we met Patty, we didn't even know that windows *could* open from he top! Support women in the trades! Give Fresh Air Sash a call.

We have used Fresh Air Sash Cord Repair, Inc. to restore the double hung windows in two properties. The first involved 18 windows in a 1927 home and the second involved 10 windows in a 1931 home. Many of the windows could not be opened because of years of paint buildup and in most cases one or more of the sash cords was missing. Fresh Air carefully disassembled the windows, cleaned the running surfaces as needed, replaced all sash cords and repaired or replaced any damaged moldings or case material. Each of the windows works as if it was new. Patty Spencer, the owner of Fresh Air, is extremely well organized and performs the needed work on time, carefully and neatly. The work area is sealed off from the rest of the house and dust is not a problem. I cannot say enough good things about Fresh Air and the quality of its work.

I hired fresh air sash last year to renovate the windows in our house built in 1912 and was very pleased with their work. Patty and her staff showed up on time, had a plan and stuck to it. All the windows in our house function beautifully. It was a pleasure to hire Patty and her crew. The service was worth every penny. Highly recommend.

Fresh Air Sash repaired almost all the windows in my 1920s bungalow. Nearly all the windows were painted shut. The few that weren't had broken cords so needed to be propped open. In short, all of them needed help. I debated about replacing or repairing so did a lot of research before making the decision to repair.
I asked for a recommendation on NextDoor and almost all the responses said to call Patty at Fresh Air. Having so many neighbors recommend her gave me enough confidence to not worry about a second bid.
Patty lined out very carefully the cost and process of the project ahead of time. Once we started she followed the timeline perfectly. Her workers were extremely courteous, professional and tidy. Patty communicated with me regularly throughout. It was a great experience.
The windows now all work perfectly. I am so thrilled with the outcome and glad that I decided to repair, rather than replace my windows. I highly recommend Fresh Air Sash.
