We’ve always loved our home’s terrific views. Last fall we decided to replace 7 leaky double-hung 12 over 12 windows. Having purchased a Marvin casement window and large patio door in 2007, we focused on that brand and equivalent Andersen models. After visiting 2 showrooms and conferring by phone with another supplier, we expanded the project to replace all of the old windows and a kitchen slider. This let us go with a less-busy style (2 over 2) to bring even more light inside and better play up the vistas outside. We opted for Marvin, liking its features and fit and finish best, and realized that our supplier had to be able to deliver everything already stained to match existing woodwork. (This was critical because the house has a lot of wood, and as we found in 2007, staining just one window is a daunting job for the uninitiated. There was no way we could handle that much staining ourselves, and finding a painter to take it on would be a challenge too.) We chose Woodbury Supply Co. to install Marvin Ultimate Insert windows (18 double hung in various sizes, as well as a 4 over 4 picture window) plus a 6 ft patio door. We liked WSC because: =Its quote was extremely detailed, ticking all the boxes (verifying insurance, staining, renting/removing a dumpster, etc.) =Its personnel patiently discussed project details and answered questions =They offered one stop shopping: all components would arrive pre-stained, with color computer-matched to existing woodwork =Reviews indicated that the company has an outstanding record in terms of reliability, workmanship, responsiveness, etc. What we found: While WSC’s price wasn’t the lowest, we felt their value for money was best. The staining was spot-on, beautifully matched to the woodwork. Like their sales and scheduling counterparts, the three-man installation team were pros from start to finish, exhibiting near-choreographic precision as one efficiently removed each old window so the next could swiftly install a new one before turning it over to the third, who deftly handled the finishing. (They’ve clearly “done this before.” A lot.) In short, WSC demonstrated everything we want to see whenever we hire someone to work on our home. We’re delighted with the results and based on our experience can wholeheartedly recommend Woodbury Supply Company to anyone considering a window and door replacement project.
