We create Bespoke upholstered furniture and draperies, mainly to the trade. This is a process which can best be described as similar to having a bespoke suit made. A client may visit our showroom and feel different examples of our work, utilizing different methods and stuffing materials to accomplish the desired feel and look. We will measure the client and determine what dimensions suit their body type and build and take into account the style of the space to create the desired piece of furniture. Our craftsmen use their vast knowledge of the trade to create beautiful one of a kind pieces or replicate classic designs. Our drapery process is a bit different. We will come to your home to measure the space and help you determine what is the best option for the space in terms of functionality and style. Whether it means creating a custom sofa using traditional techniques such as Horse hair stuffing and hand stitched edge rolls or totally hand stitched draperies, or using more modern techniques and materials for clients with different needs, we will work to accommodate every client. Our custom upholstery showroom is available for clients to visit to see and feel pieces before purchasing them. Contact us for an appointment.

John and his team at Master Craftsman Decorators worked with my architect/designer to make custom window treatments and window seat cushions for my Brooklyn brownstone. Every single room in our house needed attention except for two bathrooms! It was even more difficult because my house is over 100 years old -- so the windows are of varying sizes and, in one room in particular, the house had settled so much that they also weren't level which created a significant eyesore. John's team fabricated Roman shades for 75% of the rooms with custom valences and advised me on seemingly minor things that were of great significance to me like 1) child proofing because we have a young son, 2) the best lining to use in one room that was particularly drafty, and 3) where it made the most sense to have a top down/bottom up feature. In three rooms, they installed Hunter Douglas shades. They were very professional, courteous and attentive and were willing to go the extra mile. My son's room was the only room that had pre-exisiting window treatments because we bought them when he was an infant so that his room wasn't flooded by sunlight. One of the mechanisms for the nursery shade had broken in a freak accident, and John offered to fix it even though it wasn't his work -- it's the little things. I recommend them wholeheartedly - they were a pleasure to work with.
John and his crew were a pleasure to work with. They were always professional and polite. The quality of his work is stellar!
We hired Master Craftsman to redesign and reupholster our 1970s Lawson sofa with an updated, modern look. John and his team understood what we wanted, and we couldn't be more thrilled with the results. He completely transformed the look of our sofa--removing the skirt, slimming down the arms, adding stainless steel legs, removing stuffing and giving it a more clean, square, architectural design. We had sent him a picture of the Knoll Divinia sofa as inspiration, and the end result looks just like it. Throughout the process, John and his team were accommodating, responsive and a breeze to work with. I fully recommend Master Craftsman for their fair pricing, professionalism, ability to work in many different styles, and the superb quality of their work.
Master Craftsman is my go-to upholsterer and window treatment company. I have used them on many jobs and their work is first rate, fairly priced and they are extremely responsive and friendly should there need to be any adjustments to the work.
I have worked with this firm since the '90's. When I design and draw specific details they are able to develope the construction for what I have vizualized and are willing to re-think and solve fabrication challenges communicating with me solutions preserving the integrity of my design. It is very important for myself as a designer to discuss and observe the fabrications of my project prior to installation. They are always professional, flexible and accommodating to me and my clients through the entire process. The final product is always well crafted. I have worked with several of the New York area workrooms and can say that this is still my first choice. .Tony Lyons Bartony Design

I am an interior designer in the NYC area. I have worked with Master Craftsman Decorators for 14 years on numerous projects. They have been contracted to reupholster, make window treatments, headboards, pillows. The work is very good and they are reliable and easy to work with. I consider their pricing reasonable. We have enjoyed, and still maintain, a strong and successful working relationship. Their work can be viewed on my website:www.hsimkowitz.com Hope Simkowitz LLc
For more than a quarter century I have worked with Master Craftsman and have consistently found the people there to be helpful, knowledge-able, professional and alway most pleasant as our primary source for window treatment and upholstery work. When the few inevitable problems have arisen as with any custom work, their willingness and swiftness in making things right have been greatly appreciated. I give Master Craftsman Decorators my highest professional recommendation! I first hired Master Craftsman in the late 1980's and have consistently used their expert services every since. The projects and budgets are too numerous to list but as you insist I will list a recent project.
I had a picture of my dream dining room chairs, which were very detailed and difficult to make, yet Master Craftsman Decorators made them even better than I could have imagined. The quality of work is amazing and I get a ton of compliments whenever people come over. It is so hard to find a company who listens and surpasses expectations with such great quality. I would and have recommended them to family, friends, business owners.
