Our experience with Davyd during the proposal and design process was disappointing. We discussed two projects, including a white-oak wine-storage area and a media wall. Davyd’s apparent workmanship and portfolio was good based on two previous projects, his pricing for additional work was substantially higher than competing local proposals. I did not experience the collaborative, consultative design process I expected from a finish carpenter working at this price level. I asked for alternatives, value-engineering ideas, and help adapting the designs to a reasonable budget. In my experience, there was little meaningful discussion of different materials, construction approaches, or design modifications that might have preserved the overall appearance while controlling cost. Davyd may be a suitable choice for clients who are comfortable paying a substantial premium and do not require extensive budget collaboration. Based on my experience, however, I would recommend obtaining detailed competing estimates and confirming—before investing significant time in the design process—whether he is willing to develop alternatives around a defined budget.

Their quality carpentry solution for our home was affordable and excellent quality. Finish Carpenters installed 2 wood accent walls in with shiplap alder and other was distressed barnwood. They were on time, efficient, engaging and a true pleasure to work with. David answered any and all questions and offered his input as an expert to further enhance the décor of our project. The project was completed on time with a fantastic job of cleaning up. I would heartily recommend Finnish Carpenters for any home project. 10 stars out of 5!!
