It is with pleasure that I write a review of the work of Garman Painting Custom Decorating. Michael's meticulous attention to detail is notable in his painting as well as his prep work - taping areas, sanding, and using drop cloths. He inspects his work for possible touchups. Clean up is performed at the end of each day. I have engaged Garman Painting three times for exterior and interior work and would heartedly recommend him.

Mike is simply the best - does excellent prep work, paints well, efficient with his time, clean, keeps his word.

Mike is a true artisan/craftsman. His work is impeccable. His attention to detail, cleanliness, care of my furnishings and household items I believe is unmatched. Mike’s work is flawless. We hired Garmin Painting to paint our kitchen cabinets. And the result was wonderful. We are very happy with the finished job. Mike is a professional through and through. The job was completed in a timely manner. The quality of painting is excellent.

If your family is like my family, sometimes you put off a project because the scope seems daunting or you just don't know where to go with the work. Garman painting is the kind of service provider that has us looking for more projects now because we know we've got it covered by the best. Not only would we recommend Michael and Garman painting, we actually already have. For reference, our project was painting the entire first floor of our home (four large rooms, a large staircase and a half bath), including all trim, doors and 20' vaulted ceilings. Michael's attention to detail and commitment to quality are unsurpassed, though frankly, a quality end product is expected, right? But beyond his obvious skill and dedication to his craft, it was personally just a pleasure to work with him. I work from my home, and I was able to continue working, uninterrupted even while Michael was here painting. He was extremely respectful of our time, our schedules, our home and our pets (I couldn't make this up, he helped rescue our curious beagle from our pool). Whenever there was a question of a little thing (like a cracked switch plate), or even a big thing (like a color change after a wall was already painted), Michael was more than accommodating and fair, demonstrating over and over the pride he has in his work and a desire to create relationships with his clients. We already plan to work with Michael again this fall on an additional phase of our home project.

Mike did a great job repairing and painting walls and ceilings in our home. He arrived on time, estimated how long the work would take accurately, and left everything neat and clean after each day's work. Would definitely call him for our next project.

We hired GPCD to complete several small projects this spring. He had him install wainscoting and crown molding in our powder room, retile our fireplace and install base trim in several rooms of the house. GPCD completed the job in the projected amount of time which was about 7-10 days. He does quality work, cleans up completely at the end of each day and was agreeable to addressing/correcting any concerns we had.

We rate Michael as excellent. He is very professional, knowledgeable and always in contact to keep us informed of scheduling. Michael is very neat and cleans up his work area every day. Always on time with our project, well-done. Have recommended him to neighbors and several friends, and will definitely hire him again in the near future.

I just want to say a heartfelt thank you to Mike Garman. Mike Garman stained and finished the front mahogany door for my home. It's the first thing everyone sees and it looks amazing. He used high quality products like Epifanes so his work will look good not only today, but also years in the future. Initially we only discussed working on the front door. When Mike stopped by I noticed some exterior trim that needed to be painted and asked Mike if he could include it in the job. He brought color samples the next day and helped me choose the perfect color. I'm very happy with how everything turned out and would highly recommend his work.

Mike Garman recently re-tiled our kitchen backsplash and did a really nice job. He gave us some helpful suggestions, was reliable, very neat and reasonably priced. We are very happy with the results and would definitely call on him again.

We hired Mike to (1) repaint our back porches and stairs and (2) strip, stain and varnish our front door (i.e., the arched door pictured on this site, which had been exposed to the elements (without being treated) for 7 years). Mike made everything look brand new. Mike is the consummate painter. He was prompt (for both the initial estimate and completion of the job), informative and his estimate was far less than any other company. Equally important, Mike is a pleasure to work with -- he is a likeable, genuinely good, person. We intend to hire Mike again this year and would highly recommend him to anyone.

Mark is excellent at what he does. He helped modernize our 25+ year old home with wainscoting, custom mud room, crown molding and painting. He is meticulous in his work. Always on time, courteous and professional. Also he makes sure after he has completed for the day his work area is clean. I would be a reference for him anytime. I have lived in a 3-storey 1897 grey Victorian house since 1995, and until 2012 had not had it painted. The house was in fairly good shape given the presumed age of the last paint job - except for the woodpecker holes on the turret, which needed to be re-shingled. Mike Garman found a worker for the shingling who did a good job on this task. Then Mike began the painting work. He helped me select the colors, and the very specific nuances of the two grey colors I chose. He purchased the paint and brought it to my site. He provided the ladders and scaffolding to access all three stories. He then worked on the house alone for several weeks, starting with scraping and sanding, using a primer coat, and finishing with at least two coats of paint. He was great at both the broad sweeps of the main color and at the large amount of alternate color detail. He was impressively reliable, stable, absolutely attentive to his time commitments and estimates, accessible, a good communicator, knowledgeable about his craft, and he does beautiful work. The house looked great after his work. Nothing whatever is only half-done when Mike does it. I found his pricing reasonable for the quantity and detail of the work required. I would hire him again in a heartbeat, and would recommend him to anyone who wants a quality job, both inside and out, with a contractor they can trust. Mike also guarantees his work, and he has all the necessary insurance.

Mike is very meticulous( he takes his time) in his work. His painting and woodworking skills are considerable. He has done several painting jobs( exterior and interior) for us and renovated, including paneling, our front porch.

Michael Garman is an excellent painter. He is very professional. He always arrived at the time he had scheduled in advance with us. Everyday the work space is left clean and organized, ready for the next day. Michael is very creative and his prices are very competitive. Michael has worked on our house in Oak Park several times. He painted our 3 season back porch. He scraped and stained the exterior eaves all around our house as well as an interior door. Michael painted our kitchen, bathroom and two bedrooms. He did a decorative treatment for our daughter's room including freehand curvesd wall shapes and a chalkboard wall paint. We would highly recommend his work.

Michael Garman has done many projects for us. The most recent was painting our living room,hallways, new doors and trim. He always demonstrates the highest level of skill and professionalism. He is always on time and meets deadlines. I like the fact that he works alone because you always be assured of the quality of the work..The current project was simple painting, but he has done nice sponge work for us as well.

Mike Garman has done several jobs for us over the years. He has painted the outside of our house and our deck. He pays attention to details and made any necessary repairs to the areas as needed. He fixed caulk on our house and replaced boards on our deck and railing, before paining. Inside, he has also painted a stairway, kitchen and bathroom. His work is excellent! He is neat and tidy and when he leaves you wouldn't even know he had been there except that the room is now a new color. He does quality work and stands behind it. I would highly recommend him!

Mike painted most of the interior of my house. He was very professional in all respects from the signing of the contract through completion. He repaired several coats of peeling and cracked plaster resulting from a leak (prior to new roof) from the attic into the living room ceiling. The job is so perfect that there is no longer any evidence of the leak. He helped me pick out colors and suggested a couple of color changes resulting in a more attractive appearance than if I had insisted on my original choice. He even replaced two ceiling light fixtures as well. I highly recommend Mike Garman for your painting needs!
