We moved into a new townhome and knew it was missing something. After looking at many design options, we decided on what we wanted. Being new to the area, we had no idea who would be qualified for the job we needed completed. Houzz provided us with Rick’s name. We met with him, shared our vision and agreed to hire him for our project. Rick’s communication is very good. He tells you every step of the way what to expect. He asks for personal input and listens to any feedback. Rick is very personable and has a fun loving personality. A big portion of our job was completed off-site, at his workshop. He has two helpers who are very kind and work well with Rick. Our final project is exactly as we imagined and looks as though it was designed to be right there all along. Rick made our vision exactly identical to the example photo we shared with him. We would definitely have Rick and his team, back for other projects down the road.

I decided to remove an unwanted trash compactor and put a couple shelves in my kitchen. I needed a simple cabinet door and a matching drawer made to match the existing cabinets. It was very difficult to find someone who would even take on such a small project much less do it with great skill. Rick did the job and it matches perfectly. He also went above and beyond to see about finding matching hinges and found a piece of inner corner for a spot which was missing above the sink. He was timely, quick to respond whenever I sent a message and reasonably priced. I highly recommend him. He does excellent work.

Had a sad situation where a knife was preventing a drawer from opening (where we stored our expensive knives!). Could not get it open, eventually got Rick involved and the only solution was to destroy the drawer. Rick then rebuilt the drawer and you cannot tell it is not the original. While he was there, we consulted with him on some old bathroom cabinets, and he rebuilt the doors for us, doing a terrific job (still to be painted once we decide on the 'color'). Highly recommend, responsive, quality workmanship. Will likely use him for redoing one of our other bathrooms as well.

Rick did a beautiful job for us - we wanted a custom desk to fit in a unique space in our home office. It seems to be increasingly difficult to find craftsmen to do custom work. Ours was a small job for Rick, but he was enthusiastic about the piece and treated us like we were important to him and his business. We got a solid wood, high quality piece that fit our need perfectly at a fair price.

WOW! We loved working with Rick! He built beautiful bookcases and cabinets to create a library in our home. It transformed not just the room but the whole house. I had a fairly simple task, making 2 thresholds for doorways, but it took some time to find a person with the right tools and knowledge. I must agree with the majority of the reviews posted on Houzz. Rick is passionate, knowledgeable, and capable. He pays attention to detail and is a true craftsman. All his work is high quality. We contacted Rick at the beginning of October 2022 to build a custom vanity for our master bathroom. We had already purchased the Cambria Quartz top and presented a picture of what we wanted our custom vanity to look like. He was able to build a beautiful walnut vanity and much more. In addition, we had him build two custom floor-to-ceiling linen closets and a medicine cabinet. We had been trying to remodel our home for quite a few years by ourselves. We were having difficulty getting things done. Over the last three and a half months Rick was about to build the vanity, two towel cabinets, cabinet over the toilet, frame six doors(in and out), framed five windows, framed 5 closet doorways, created archway entrances/exit to two different rooms. He installed a bedroom door and consulted my husband on installing a new back/kitchen exterior door. He removed and installed all new baseboards for the four bedrooms and the hallway upstairs. He installed the top step to our new staircase-to prepare for installation of carpet runner- a job that had confounded the carpet installers. He installed the new baseboards in master bedroom and bath. Rick used walnut wood throughout the work in our master bedroom and bathroom. New window frames, framed our recessed ceiling, installed a new door to our master bathroom. Rick built custom vanity, floor-to ceiling linen closet and cabinet over the toilet alcove. With his connection to one of the best painters, Guillermo Villasenor from USA Repair & Paint Solutions, to do the final painting of the poplar and the sanding, sealing and spray lacquering of all the walnut. The finishing result was fabulous. We could not have been able to complete all this work at this level of quality without Rick. He was diligent working long hours to complete our home in time for the Holidays, Rick, Thank you for a job well done. Rick was very patient while working around our plumbers, tilers, and painters. He provided guidance on the small things we could do our selves to help save some money. We learned a lot and ended up with beautiful rooms.

Rick built me an excellent shadowbox coffee table in 2016 and I just went back to him to help make some additions to the table. He gave me great advice on the best way to display the additional items in the table and he quickly adjusted the table so s few of the items could be displayed. He is in the process of purchasing a special tool to complete the work so all of the additional items can be displayed. I think his work and service are excellent.

Amazing person , superior quality, important to remember Rick is custom and works alone so the time you wait is well worth it! We cannot wait for Rick to add additional projects to our home.

Rick was awesome. He did an excellent job on my small project. He returned my calls quickly and turnaround time was quick too. He does beautiful work.

We take pride in our kitchen, but we have put up with some "problem" kitchen drawers that were either warped, not gliding out smoothly, or in one case, simply would no longer even open. Rick took these five drawers to his woodworking shop and came back about a week later with completely remade drawers with "slides" that open and shut with not even a whisper of noise. We could not be more pleased with his fine craftsmanship and attention to every detail. He made our lives much happier with these wonderful results. Rick fixed a cabinet track that no one else would fix as it was a small job. He went out and purchased one cabinet track just for us when they normally come in large packages. Our cabinet was fixed quickly and is working very well.

I contacted Rick re a fairly small but challenging project for me. Without hesitation he said "come on by and I ll take a look and see how I can help you". A True Craftsman - We needed a couple of kitchen cabinet doors rebuilt and Rick did a great job. He did a great job matching a complicated profile and built a much higher quality door than we started with. We are so delighted with the media console Rick built for our home. Rick was able to build exactly what we were wanting for the space and it looks like it has always been there. Rick does great work and is very informative. He recently replaced our kitchen doors and drawers and added some features. Previously, he built and installed an entertainment center and made sure the TV fit perfectly. Prior to that, he replaced some old bar stool seats with wooden ones that look great. Good job!

Rick came to my rescue when I started a home repair that ended up requiring an update to the whole kitchen. We purchased new countertops a few months ago, and when the guy came out to remove the old ones, our existing cabinets basically imploded. My brother referred me to Rick's Woodworking because he had a wall of media cabinets built by Rick several years ago and they're still sturdy and in perfect shape. I figured if my brother trusted Rick, then I would too. I called Rick on a Saturday, and he came to my house that very afternoon even though his shop was closed that day. He said I sounded distressed and he wanted to help. I was stressed because I had called several different places and nobody would take on my job. Rick accepted the job and tore out my old cabinets, but unfortunately found mold in the walls. At that point I was in big trouble, but Rick decided to help me and actually tore the kitchen down to the studs and started over. He built up our walls, and then gave me a recommendation for someone who would prep and paint them. Once the walls were done Rick designed and built me beautiful custom cabinets with crown molding for the entire kitchen. I can't tell you how pleased I am with the way the cabinets turned out. I want to thank Rick for working tirelessly to get the cabinets done, and for all of the extra out of scope work he did just to help me out of a bad situation. In my opinion, there's no way anyone else would have done that. I would recommend Rick's Woodworking to anyone who wants quality custom cabinetry made by hand and with great pride. I had a broken cabinet drawer that I wanted to get remade. When I met Rick he gave me good information on what he suggested for the drawer and he was able to get the drawer made exactly as needed in a quick turnaround. His communication was great and he had the job completed quickly.

Rick completed a beautiful set of three alderwood bookshelves, nine feet tall (!), which he helped us design to the perfect specifications of our space and use. This was a serious furniture investment purchase but it has been absolutely worth every penny and we endorse Rick's craftsmanship and professionalism. We visited Rick's workshop a few times during the months of building, to make choices and see options, and he was communicative, friendly, and engaging every time we met or called him. The delivery and installation was the icing on the cake - he made sure the shelves lined up right with our uneven floorboards (you would never get that from a chain furniture store!) We love our bookshelves and are so happy we made the choice to have Rick create them.

Rick made two bookcases and an entertainment equipment console for my wife and me. The pieces are beautiful. Also, Rick gave us technical help with the selection of entertainment equipment. We're pleased with Rick's work.

Did a good job -- Price is what you pay and is not the cheapest but he does good work. His biggest issue is getting back to the customers. But he does do good work, just got to stay on top of him and only pay him when the job is done - that way you always have the upper hand and give me the motivation to get the job done.

I hired Rick to build a table top out of maple after discussing it at his shop off of i35.

I have lived in the Dallas area for approx. 25 yrs and have passed by Rick's shop a million times but never stopped in. I am in the process of doing a small kitchen remodel on my home and decided to take down my existing cabinets and re-hang them on another wall to save money. However, the cabinets I took down were too long to fit the wall where I wanted to re-hang them. I reluctantly stopped in to see if Rick could cut the cabinets down which he said he could do, and return them by the end of the week. Long story short, he did an EXCELLENT job and returned my cabinets within 2 days. The precision in cutting my cabinets left me speechless.

After our original carpenter flaked out on us, we found Rick's Woodworking through an online search. We were looking for a large entertainment center for our master bedroom. It was a total custom job. We went in with sketches and Rick used our drawings and modified them to what would work best. The results were amazing. We love our new custom entertainment center. I contacted Rick with materials and a vision for my project already in hand. I had difficulty even finding a craftsman that was willing to take on my project and had to contact 5 or so before I found rick. I had a beautiful metal base from the 1930's off a signer sewing machine and butcher block style wood that is actually bowling alley lane floor from a 1950's bowling alley. Rick was beyond excited about the project and a joy to work with. He saw my vision immediately and really helped bring it to life, where everyone else was telling me it's not worth the time. He was more than fair to deal with and very communicative throughout the process, with picture and text updates about what progress was being made. We needed to replace our old oven (24 inch) and wanted to move up to a 30 inch model. We spent a lot of time calling "Custom" cabinet makers who wouldn't even talk to us about replacing just the one cabinet, they only wanted the job if the entirety of the kitchen cabinets were being replaced. Rick actually listened then promised to deliver a new cabinet that would fit in perfectly with the existing cabinets. The new cabinet is in now, saved us a huge amount of money and this truly custom cabinet looks matches the rest of the kitchen beautifully. Thanks Rick, it has been great doing business with you!

Rick Kirkendall built me a beautiful library. I moved to Texas almost a year ago, and it was very difficult to leave my home in Long Beach, California because I had a custom library that my dad built for me. It wasn’t feasible for my dad to build me another one, so I went on a search and found Rick. I knew he was the one for the job at our initial consultation. He spent about 3 hours with me talking through what I wanted, giving really good advice about what would look good and what would be pleasing to future homeowners, and measuring everything multiple times to make sure he got it right. Then I threw him a curve ball and asked him to build a custom wine storage unit, and that took some time to work through how it should look and function. He went to work right away, provided updates and pictures to show his progress, and even invited me to his shop so I could see the work in progress in person. Although it took a little longer than I expected, the end result is better than I imagined. It took 2 days to install, but everything is perfect because Rick made sure it was. Rick is an artist and he will not compromise the end product with poor materials or craftsmanship. The job cost exactly what he quoted me, too, even though I know there was some rework required to get the wine shelves right. If you’re looking for fast and inexpensive, Rick is not your guy. If you want beautifully crafted custom pieces that will last a lifetime, Rick will give you that and more.

We started our project back in Oct. 2014 with having a phenomenal entertainment center installed. At this point we decided, based on the work Rick completed, we would have him customize our kitchen cabinets. We ordered hardware and ask that several woodworking items be completed. In April 2016 Rick still had not completed the project so we found a great company that came out and finished our project. I personally texted and called Rick every month for a year and four months with him usually not responding to my inquiry as to when the project would be complete. There were several times we spoke and he would tell me he was going to get to me soon. I am actually quite shocked that I continue to follow up. I was just very impressed with the entertainment center and given he started the project I felt he would surely come and finish. He basically left me in a lurch with starting the cabinets finally early in 2015 and coming back to do a little more in August 2015, but still not finishing. Again, I had to have another company conclude my cabinets about two weeks ago (April 2016). They actually came out and looked at the cabinets and concluded within 3 weeks of our initial visit. We are very pleased with the results. Again, after a year and four months I feel I was more than patient and that customer service was not a priority to Rick. I have recently communicated with another individual who had very similar problems with Rick being non-responsive to them. I would definitely stay away from having Rick complete any of your woodworking needs.

Rick had designed and built a custom cabinet for some friends of ours and we liked the workmanship. Rick was back to us within two days and shortly thereafter at our home with his sketch pad. Our request was a little unusual in that we wanted no side-to-side symmetry in our built-in and our schedule was very tight. We needed the cabinet finished by the end of May. Purchasing my first house was scary and on top of that I knew I would be doing some renovation work especially the kitchen. When it came time to redo my kitchen I search the internet to find a reliable, respectful company to do the work. Well I came across Rick's Woodworking in Carrollton, TX. I was very impressed with all the projects he had on his web page and with all the testimonial letters as well. I called Mr. Kirkindall and we had a very good conversation on the phone. We sat up an appointment for him to come and see my kitchen area. During our visit and Mr. kirkindall took my ideas and started drawing up sketches. We talked about what species of wood I would like to have the cabinets built out of and what color of stain I would like and what kind of counter tops I was thinking about he was very thorough. For the kitchen cabinets I wanted to go with butcher block counter tops. So with all the details on paper and me agreeing with the price he went to work. The tear out of the old kitchen cabinet went great it was Mr. Kirkindall and one other guy they were very good and professional at removing the old cabinets and cleaning up no messes. After a few weeks my new kitchen and counter tops were ready to be installed it all came together so well it fit so perfectly and the craftsmanship of Mr. Kirkindall is hands down the best I have ever seen and working with him was so easy he made my dream kitchen come true. I am so please with the outcome and I will for sure use him again.
