This dining room had no functional storage space, bad color coordination with the adjacent spaces and no light sources save the one weird pendant seen in the upper left hand corner of the photo. Photo: Katie Anderson

After: The closet/shelving was removed and a more period appropriate hutch was installed. Recessed light & wall washers were installed to light art and vertical surfaces to balance and create a softer diffused light for entertaining. A more appropriate chandelier style was installed to marry the past period to present day glamour. Photo: Dennis Anderson

This was a very outdated and poorly functioning "galley" style kitchen. The pantry with louver doors did not provide efficient storage and the "breakfast nook to the left of the standing shelves was merely wasted space. Photo: Katie Anderson

After: A truly organized "galley" style kitchen was created with all new plumbing fixtures and upgraded appliances. The small pantry was replaced by allocating specific storage by function throughout the kitchen. The breakfast nook was closed off in order to claim the space for a much needed master bath addition. After: Galley kitchens are wonderfully functional. This one had much wasted space that when re-organized provided much more amenities than before; a bar area with a sink and seating provide for entertainment and interaction with guests that did not exist prior to this remodel. All new lighting and additional light sources were installed to balance the space. Photo: Dennis ...More

There was no real storage or a proper amount of surface working area around the stove/range. There was also not enough light either natural or installed to make the space funcional Photo: Katie Anderson

After: Better storage organization and additional working surface was installed. The unnecessary corner chase was removed and replaced with a broom & cleaning closet to the right of the refrigerator. The installation of several light sources (under-cabinet, pendant and recessed), provide a richer work environment and make the space feel much more warm & inviting. Photo: Denn...More

This "master bedroom" never had a real closet nor was there a master bath. This "closet" was built sometime in the 70's to provide storage but it took space out of the bedroom footprint and was not very functional. Photo: Katie Anderson

After: The built out closet was removed. We were able to use some of the kitchen area on the opposite side of the wall to provide a proper walk-in close to the left of the new bathroom opening. The area of the bathroom was previously the old breakfast nook. Photo: Dennis Anderson

This breakfast nook was not necessary given the large dining room off the kitchen and was wasted space. This area was (to be seen in the after photos) used to create a master bath suite. Photo: Katie Anderson

This guest bath was not only outdated but did not function well at all for a two bedroom flat. It was the only bathroom prior to this remodel, before the installation of the master bathroom. Photo: Katie Anderson

The layout was not optimum for the teeny tiny space and neither had good style or function. Photo: Katie Anderson

After: By re-organizing the space plan, this very small bathroom provides much better function. The vanity was designed with drawers rather than a single cabinet below. This give much more room for storage and provides a way to compartmentalized products and better access to them. Photo: Dennis Anderson

After: Placing the tub wall to wall and moving the toilet allows better access to the shower controls. Built in niches provide a more elegant solution for storing bath/shower products leaving the rubber duckies with the tub deck space all the themselves. Photo: Dennis Anderson
