garage conversion = Lucky Kids

We repurposed an underutilized space in this home into a high-traffic playroom /video game arcade, complete with furniture on wheels, for three active children. The large photograph of well-worn baseballs on the wall (by our firm's principal, Linda Baron, a former photojournalist) was initially shot before we started designing, just as a way to log all the 'stuff' for which we were tasked with creating storage. But it so perfectly captured the vibe we wanted for the room that we blew it up to larger-than-life scale. You can never have too much of a good thing.... Batter up?

We inventoried all contents of the 'before' room in order to design places to store everything. This picture of a bucket of old baseballs really embodied the story of the family we wanted in the new design, so we blew it up to hang as a wall image that sets the tone for the whole space!
