Historic Irvington ADU
This project was a great collaboration to build a stunning home to mimic the main house however in a smaller version, what the client termed a mini-mansion. The accessory dwelling unit (ADU) is located in the Irvington Historic District in Portland and was designed and built with very strict historic requirements including maintaining the same footprint of the original garage and the entry maintains the same size doorway as the original garage door. The interior is complete with custom milled finish work to match the main house, oak wrapped beams and flooring similar to the original top-nail flooring as well as shaker cabinetry. Although it's only 500 SF the vaulted ceilings give it the feel of a much larger space. The space features a bedroom large enough for a queen bed and build-in dresser, a laundry room, 3x6 tile shower and single-sink vanity, full kitchen with all standard size appliances, 2 person island and living room that doubles as an office. The ADU packs a big punch in a little package and is perfect if you want a low maintenance beautiful place to call home!
