A Fresh Perspective in Concord

This home built in the 1950’s in Concord MA had its kitchen and living spaces stuck in the traditions of lifestyles gone by. One of the major goals for these clients was to create an integrated “great room feel between the family room, dining room and kitchen spaces. We removed the walls to the kitchen, incorporated a screen porch to get the space we needed. The central architectural feature that pulls the spaces together is an island, one of two, that serves as both a guest work space and has an round eating area/counter at one end. The round element serves as the anchor from which the other spaces revolve off of. A contemporary rail lighting system accentuates the detail as does the subtle wraparound of the cork flooring.
