High on top of this mountain existed a log cabin. Nearing retirement from an exectutive position, the husband, along with his wife, had decided to make this cabin their "forever" home. The existing footprint did not offer them the space they needed for now newly married adult children with wives and kids in tow. A new order was pushed through to "add on". Consulting with Michael Lysczek Architect of Culpeper, Virginia, plans were drawn up. Brannock Enterprises was hired as builder. Now the real work began.
Part of it required "finessing" the kitchen footprint housed in the new addition into a one of a kind kitchen. One that would allow the wife to showcase her treasured copper collection of artifacts that have been carefully collected over the years.
What we love about this kitchen and why it works:
1) We chose a very clean flush inset with Shaker door panel cabinetry "look". 2)Coffee Leathered granite allowed for a neat but not too austere countertop solution...not too busy but with enough texture and some "brown" to warm up the space.
3) Guy Brannock of Brannock Enterprises (builder), built a custom hood along with the rustic floating shelves on each side of it.

Overall, a stunning example of a kitchen that incorporated personal effects of its owner making it unique and one of a kind. She and he are "over the moon" with their kitchen. In fact, quite the world travelers, they do not wish to go "anywhere" anymore...they just want to stay home and enjoy their new space!
