Newly arrived from Colorado, this couple had just purchased this lovely house in a very desirable neighborhood/location in Bethesda. Beautiful bones, but sadly out of date were the interior elements.
The kitchen, to start, offered dated black appliances, ho-hum stained maple cabinetry, with a very awkward layout. Specifically, the vintage Wolf range was located on one side of the kitchen near main hall entrance. That meant that the cook would have to walk all the way over to the other side of the kitchen, around the large island, to reach the refrigerator.
With some clever relocation of entries into the kitchen, we were able to open it up. What had been occupied by the range now became a "sideboard" with shallower base cabinetry. It allowed for small counter niche for a TV (nice to glance at when you are cooking on the opposite side!). In effect, we combined all major kitchen *triangle* functions on one side of the kitchen. One end housed the double oven, a MW, and beverage center. I designed a coffered ceiling to align with the room that accentuated the island as "anchor".
The Master Bathroom was also updated--the biggest improvements being new vanities, tile, and shower with glass doors.
