midcentury made new

This was a complete gut and remodel from end to end in Lake Geneva. Jorndt Fahey re-built the home with a new mid-century appeal, and Kelly Frazier of Mc Cormack and Etten was the architect. The homeowners are empty nesters and were looking for a sprawling ranch to entertain and keep family coming back year after year. All of the interior spaces were newly furnished with just a few heirloom pieces holding placecards in the lively mix.

Walls were removed to open up the previous living room and kitchen areas, creating an open concept with great through views. The large area over the island was vaulted and skylights were re-located into this area which changed everything! The custom cut blue glass tiles are straight set for a more contemporary look and really give the room an artful mood. Everything was gutted...More

The lower level living area serves three distinct functions: wet bar, television area, casual sitting zone. If there is a large party the furniture can shift and open the room up to one large gathering, but it functions well for just two~ for everyday use. All of the interior spaces were newly furnished with just a few heirloom pieces.

This lower level bar pairs with the kitchen stained componants, but reads as furniture rather than additional kitchen because of the warmth. This was an ideal place for a wet bar, as there is direct access to the outdoor patio, and the room is elongated and needed several functions to feel spacially correct. The custom cabinetry became the knee wall division....and a great plac...More

What a beautiful mix of color and texture. The closed bar cabinet was a previously owned piece of the homeowners that fit perfectly into this space. When the fireplace was re-designed it felt right to remove the previous symmetry and replace it with a monolithic tile and wood combination. The gray wood plank flooring and watercolor area rug keep a very relaxed pairing with the ...More
