Cook's Copper Hood Kitchen

This kitchen remodel consisted of removing a century's old fireplace and combining the existing kitchen and living room to create one large space. The stairwell was opened up to unify the living room and kitchen. Now the homeowners have their dream kitchen complete with a large butcher block island, cream subway tile, and honed black granite countertops. The custom cabinetry combines the homeowner's old cabinets with new cabinets that match. The custom copper hood is made of wood and was painted in our finish shop with copper paint. Distressed beams were added to give the kitchen a cozy, rustic feel.

The basement door in this kitchen presented a challenge since it was in the middle of the kitchen where the homeowner wanted cabinetry and storage space. Now it's disguised by a wall of sliding cabinets, exposing access to the basement when needed. View the next two pictures in sequence to see how the doors move. Photography by: William Manning

After opening up the stairwell between the kitchen and the living room, the homeowners had extra storage space under the stairs. Now it's used as the dog's crate area, complete with a custom doggy door. Photography by: William Manning
