Wilmette - Private Residence

Built in 1917 on a tree lined street on the North Shore, this two-story home underwent a major interior renovation to bring the house into the next century. The formal living and dining room spaces were preserved, but relocated within the first floor. The kitchen and family room were redesigned to create an open concept and provide a more casual living area in the heart of the house. The new kitchen is highlighted with an oversized island that incorporates function and seating areas, while overlooking the new family room. The kitchen also includes a six-burner range, pantry cabinet and plenty of storage. The first floor redesign further includes modifications in the dining room, main entry, powder room and mud room. The second floor has a completely new design that benefits the owner’s lifestyle. The second floor is anchored by a new master suite, along with a new master bath. The master bath contains dual sinks, a walk-in shower and a compartmentalized toilet room. A large walk-in closet completes the suite. The balance of the second floor is comprised of three new secondary bedrooms, a new hall bath and a new central hall. Exterior renovations were limited to the rear of the house along with new windows to coordinate with the new design layout.
