East Court Plaza - Downtown Anderson, SC
In 1899 this building was originally constructed as a bank which has been primarily vacant since the late 1970’s. With determination to keep the integrity of its original details, this building has been restored to its former glory now featuring offices and a private residence on the third floor. The wainscoting, trim, doors and windows were stripped of their many coats of paint to expose the original heart pine. These details are accented, in the residence, by a 16’ high coffered ceiling that visually divides the large great room. The private residence displays a custom double door with an arched transom leading out onto a balcony that captures the view of a church steeple in the distance. The adjacent multi-functional courtyard reclaims the foundation of a demolished building. It maintains privacy, provides resident parking, and a backdrop for entertaining guests.
