Modern Farmhouse

This family friendly modern farmhouse is home to four young boys, their busy parents and an active puppy. Located in Sachem's Head, a peninsula along the rocky Guilford, CT coastline, the less than 4,000 s.f. lives large by utilizing outdoor living areas and having some rooms serve dual purposes. The boys' playroom doubles as a party barn and can host gatherings for dozens of friends by opening the mahogany double doors onto a patio in the front of the house and a waterfront deck on the rear of the home. The laundry room also serves as an efficient home office.

The design is an example of timeless traditionalism. Traditional materials such as board and batten, cedar shingles and granite are used without ornate detailing. This approach yields cost savings and requires less maintenance allowing this family more time to enjoy their home.
