St. Charles St.Project, Boston

Aditya and Skyler were referred to Color Theory Boston by a previous client of ours (the Yoons), and invited us to intervene with their inability to see eye to eye on how their home should represent them and their growing family.
Aditya was born and raised in India, and hoped to have a domain in Boston that could have traces of his homeland with a modern feel. Skyler grew up in rural Massachusetts and requested a sophisticated yet unpretentious home.
Our first mission was to overcome both their extensive collection of books and Skyler’s vintage Cobalt glass medicine bottles, which had taken over the entire first floor. We designed our largest built-in bookshelf to date, while adding a Marble bio-fuel fireplace, and now the Joshi’s have room to grow their library and collectibles.
Having only one area in the home to entertain guests, the Joshi’s did not want a T.V. to take center stage in their Living Room while hosting guests. We had a custom media center built, with a motorized shelf that allowed the T.V. to appear and magically disappear with a click of a remote.
Intentionally keeping all the wall colors neutral allowed us to place pops of color throughout the residence, catering to Aditya’s request. A pair of chairs upholstered in cowhide, bridged Aditya’s Indian traditions with Skylar’s rural, farm life upbringing.
For their kitchen, they requested a “Southern California” vibe, outfitted with Poggenpohl cabinetry and Viking appliances. We also commissioned a custom bench with storage, which was upholstered by Skylar’s father, a professional in the field who works with high-end hospitality clientele.
For all 3 bedrooms & the kids Playroom, we incorporated built-in wardrobes for added storage and gave them their own distinct design personalities to compliment their inhabitants.
