The homeowners' 1800s Victorian home on Fowler Lake had been turned into a four-family residence. The empty-nesters wanted to convert the four units into a single-family home, so they could be closer to a vibrant downtown area and the lake.

To restore the home back to a single-family residence, the first and second floors were completely gutted and reconfigured to accommodate a modern lifestyle while keeping the scale and feel of the original home. A servant staircase was removed, and the foyer size was reduced to create space for a first floor powder room and maximize the dining room size. The first floor kitchen was relocated to a former bedroom and bathroom area to take advantage of southern light, lake views, and to connect it to the lake porch.
