How to Add Content to Your Houzz Website

Houzz Website Services gives you the ability to fully customize your website content, from simple text tweaks to adding entirely new sections and pages.
This article will cover the basics of adding content to your website, including accessing your website editor, as well as adding/editing sections and content blocks. After you've mastered these fundamentals, check out our other articles for a deep dive into more options.
Access Your Website Editor
To access the website editor, select the Company icon in the left navigation of Houzz Pro, then click Website from the menu.

Click the Edit Site button.
You'll now be redirected to your website editor, which displays a preview of your website and a palette of editing tools on the left side. From here, you can start to add sections and content blocks.

Add and Edit Sections
A section is a horizontal content block that helps organize your page. Each section can hold text, images, or layout blocks like grids and columns. Use sections to break your page into clear, easy-to-edit parts.
Add Section
To add a new section, click the area where you'd like to insert the section, then select the large black + icon.

The Sections dialogue box will appear. Here, you can choose from a menu of pre-designed sections. You can then edit the content blocks within the new section or delete them to start fresh.
Edit Section
To edit an existing section, click on the section you want to edit, then click the pencil icon in the top-right corner.

From here, you can adjust the size, margins, and alignment of your section.

Add and Edit Content Blocks
A content block is a module within a section that you can add to your website to enhance its functionality and visual appeal. Content block options include image, button, video, contact, slideshow, social link blocks, and more (more about each option below).
Add Block
To add a new block, click an existing block or empty section until you see the + icon with a white background.

Click the + icon, and a menu of all your block options will appear, as shown below.

Edit Block
To edit an existing block, click on the block you wish to edit, then click the pencil icon.
Content Block Types
Whether you are adding a new content block or editing an existing one, there are several different block types to choose from. Let's go over each one.

Image Block
The image block allows you to add images to your website. To add an image, click the + icon to add a content block, then select Image.
Choose from one of the following options:
- Project Photos: Select from photos already uploaded on your Houzz Profile.
- Upload Image: Upload directly from your computer. Ensure images are PNG or JPEG format and smaller than 2,500 pixels in height or width. Images that do not meet these requirements may receive an error when saving.
- Link from another website: Enter a URL to link an image. Please Note: If the link to the image is ever taken down, the image will break. Only use this method if you control the URL you are linking with.
- Stock Photos: Search for and use stock photos by entering keywords in the search bar.
Enter a brief image description (alt text) for accessibility. You can check Show as Caption to display the description below the photo. You can also toggle on Use Profile Image to automatically use your profile picture.

Button Block
The button block creates clickable buttons that can link to various destinations. To add a button, click the + icon, then select Button.
Enter the Button text, then select the Button type (Primary or Secondary), which can be styled in your Style Panel.
You can then update the link destination:
- Website Page: Select a page from your website.
- Project Page: Choose from your available project pages.
- Blog Post: Select from your written blog posts.
- Anchor: Link to a section that has an anchor.
- Web Address: Enter a URL to an external website. We recommend you select Open in a New Tab to keep users on your site.
- Email: Opens the user's email client with your entered email.
- Phone: Opens the user's phone calling app with your phone number.
- Houzz Features: Schedule a meeting includes a link to your Houzz Pro meeting scheduler. You can edit the settings in your Houzz Pro account. Write a review allows users to write a review on your Houzz profile. Intake form links to your Houzz Pro intake form.
- Upload a file: Upload a document (DOCX or PDF) up to 5 MB for visitors to download.

Video Block
The video block allows you to embed videos on your website. To add a video, click the + icon, then select Video.
Enter a YouTube or Vimeo video link in the provided box. Alternatively, you can also choose videos already uploaded to your Houzz profile.
Please Note: Videos uploaded to your Houzz profile must be approved by the Houzz team before they appear on your profile and become available to use on the website.

Contact Block
The contact block displays your business contact information. To add contact information, click the + icon, then select Contact.
Your profile information will appear. Check or uncheck areas to control what is displayed.
Edit information directly by clicking in the text boxes. You can choose to display icons and labels or labels only under Layout Options.

Slideshow Block
The slideshow block creates a dynamic image display using photos from your Houzz profile. To add a slideshow, click the + icon, then select Slideshow.
Please Note: The slideshow block can only display images that are in a project on your Houzz profile.

You can choose how to populate the slideshow, including:
- Automatically update: Use your latest project cover photos. With this option, you can specify the number of recent photos to show using the counter. You can also select Show All Project Cover Photos to display all project cover photos.
- Hand-select photos: Uncheck the automatic update toggle to manually select photos from your Houzz profile.

Click on the images you want to display. Below under the Slideshow image order, you can drag and drop selected images to reorder them.

Next, select Layout. Choose the height of your slideshow (thin, narrow, normal, or tall).
Under Image Cropping, you can select how your photos display. Fill Height & Width is recommended for consistent image height and width.
Under Photos per Slide, you can adjust the number to display multiple photos on each slide.
Under Animation Options, you can customize how slides appear and the transition duration.
Lastly, you can toggle Autoplay on or off.

Social Links Block
The social links block allows you to display links to your social media profiles. To add social links, click the + icon, then select Social Links.

You can use the links from your Houzz profile, or you can turn off Use Houzz Profile Contact Information to manually enter URLs for various social media icons (e.g., your Instagram URL).
Advanced Layout Blocks
Advanced layout blocks give you the flexibility to design custom layouts using cards, columns, grids, and image + text blocks. These blocks can be mixed and matched to create visually engaging, well-structured layouts for your website. By combining these elements, you can build unique, professional-looking pages that are both functional and appealing.
