How to Use Texting (SMS) for Leads

Houzz Pro Texting (SMS) for Leads allows you to communicate directly with your prospective client by text. You can use this feature for both Houzz leads and non-Houzz leads that you manually add in yourself.

This feature is currently only available for the US and Canada.

When you receive a lead from Houzz on a mobile device, the link sent to you will take you to the Houzz Pro app (or to download it if you haven’t already), where you’ll be automatically signed in. Once in the Houzz Pro app, you’ll be able to correspond with your client in the Messages or Leads section.

Texting on Houzz Pro App

There are two ways to text prospective clients on the Houzz Pro app.

1. Select Message from the Create New module on the home page. Select the Leads List tab, and then click on the lead you would like to message.

2. Or, select the Leads tab from the bottom menu. Click on the relevant lead, then select the Messages icon from the top menu.

Once in the Messages section, you will see project details such as client location, phone number, additional client comments, and more. You can start typing your message in the text box. Be sure to select the SMS button to send a text message. Once it's ready to go, select the Send icon.

Texting on Desktop

You can also text or email prospective clients from the desktop version of Houzz Pro. There are two ways to access:

1. Select the Leads icon from your left navigation. Select one of your existing leads from the left menu. Select Messages in the lead menu.

2. Or, select the Message icon near the bottom of your left navigation. Click on the relevant message.

Once you are viewing your lead, you can select the Text option to compose and send a text message.

Once in the Messages section, you will see project details such as client location, phone number, additional client comments, and more. As you start to type your response, make sure you input a phone number in the To: field. For Houzz leads, the phone number will already be included. For non-Houzz leads, the recipient will be empty, so you will need to input your lead's mobile phone number.

You can start typing your message in the text box. Once it's ready to go, select Send Text Message.

Texting for Ultimate Pros

Even if your potential client has a proxy number with an extension code, you are still able to send a text message.

To start:

1. Access the lead from either your desktop or mobile device (see instructions above).

2. Once you've accessed the client details, find the 10-digit phone number listed on the right.

3. From your mobile device, text that 10-digit phone number with your message — do not include the extension code.

4. If this is your first interaction with this potential client using this phone line, you will receive a response from Houzz asking you to reply with the extension for this lead. Enter the extension code, and we will create a new text thread between you and your potential client. You can then continue to communicate directly with the potential client from there.

Please Note: You will only be asked to provide the extension code one time. If you have already called or texted your potential client from this line, you will not need to provide this information moving forward.
