What to Do Before You Cancel

Before making any changes, add these steps to your checklist to make your switch as smooth as possible.

Step 1: Identify your renewal date

Regardless of your subscription plan—monthly or annual, Essential, Advanced, or Complete—keep tabs on your renewal date. It typically aligns with your sign-up date, mirroring the same day for monthly plans or the same month and day for annual subscriptions. Remember, Buildertrend won't issue refunds post-renewal, even if you miss it by a single day.

To find your Buildertrend renewal date, make sure you’re logged in as an administrator or that an administrator has granted you management permissions. Then, navigate to the menu by clicking on your profile icon in the top left corner.

Select ‘Manage Subscription’.

This will open a new window where you can reveal your renewal date (see: ‘Next Payment Date: [date]’ under ‘Buildertrend Offerings’).

Step 2: Export your valuable data

Your leads, customer info, and project history are precious—so don’t leave them behind. Make sure you export all crucial data before canceling your Buildertrend subscription. Didn’t get the chance to save them before canceling? No worries. Buildertrend offers data extraction assistance for a fee if requested within one year after your subscription ends.

Step 3: Migrate new or ongoing projects

If you have projects in the pipeline around your cancellation time, move them to your new construction management tool early, before canceling. Juggling both platforms temporarily might seem daunting, but it streamlines the transition and allows your team to acclimate faster to the new system.

Step 4: Loop in your team and clients

Communication is key. Keep your team and clients in the loop about the upcoming change and how it might affect them. This not only gives them time to prepare, but allows you to highlight the benefits of the new platform for their own workflows and experiences.

3 Steps to Cancel Buildertrend on Your Computer

If you signed up for Buildertrend through their website (instead of their app), follow these steps to cancel your subscription on your computer:

Step 1: Send your cancellation request

There are three ways to send your cancellation request:

A. Make sure you’re logged in as an administrator or that an administrator has granted you management permissions. Then, navigate to the menu by clicking on your profile icon in the top right corner.

Select ‘Manage Subscription’.

This will open a new window where you can select ‘Cancel Subscription' under ‘Buildertrend Offerings’. Next, a feedback form will appear. Once you’ve given your feedback, you will see a notification that your request was received and a representative will contact you soon.

B. Email your Buildertrend customer success rep from an administrator account. Let them know about your request for cancellation before the subscription renews. 

C. Use an administrator account to send a message to support@buildertrend.com to confirm your cancellation request.

Step 2: Fill out the Account Change Request form 

After your cancellation request has been sent, you'll receive an Account Change Request form. According to Buildertrend's terms, cancellation is official once the administrator submits the form and confirms it with a Buildertrend representative over email or the phone.

Step 3: Confirm your cancellation 

Keep a lookout for a confirmation from Buildertrend. Don't hesitate to reach out and secure a record of your cancellation if you don’t receive one within one business week.

CANCELING ON MOBILE

6 Steps to Cancel Buildertrend on an Apple Device

If you subscribed to Buildertrend through their app on an Apple device (iPhone, iPad, or Mac), and not directly from Buildertrend’s website, follow these steps:

Step 1: Go to your device’s settings

Step 2: Select your name

Step 3: Click on ‘Subscriptions’

Step 4: Select ‘Buildertrend’ and click ‘Cancel’

To uninstall the app from your device, just tap the icon on your homescreen, hold it until it shakes, then click ‘X’.

CANCELING ON ANDROID APP

5 Steps to Cancel Buildertrend on an Android App

If you subscribed to Buildertrend through their app on an Android device, and not directly from Buildertrend’s website, follow these steps:

Step 1: Visit the Google Play Store 

Step 2: Select ‘Menu’

Step 3: Click on ‘Subscriptions’

Step 4: Select ‘Buildertrend’ and click ‘Cancel Subscription’

To uninstall the app from your device, click on ‘My Apps and Games’ then navigate to ‘Installed’. Select ‘Buildertrend’, then ‘Uninstall’.
