Network, learn and stay inspired in the coming year at the events for industry pros

Trade shows offer design and remodeling professionals many valuable opportunities, with their educational workshops, panels with industry leaders, exhibitions of products and services, and plenty of chances for socializing. You can stay up to date on new products and trends in the marketplace. You can learn about business opportunities and ways to improve your process. And you can meet people who might be a great fit for working with or sharing peer support. We’ve rounded up important trade events in the United States and internationally to help you plan ahead for 2024. Get your calendar out and mark your favorites!

* Maison&Objet

Jan. 19-24 and Sept. 5-9, 2024


Held twice a year, the Maison&Objet trade fair is one of the most influential interior design exhibitions in the world. The program infuses education, trends, and insight from design and decor experts along with almost 2,000 exhibitors, including top European brands. 

* The International Surface Event (TISE)

Jan. 23-26, 2024

Las Vegas

With more than 400,000 square feet and 600 floor covering, tile and stone exhibitors, TISE is the umbrella event that encompasses three happenings in the same space: Surfaces, StonExpo and TileExpo. Educational sessions begin on Jan. 23, while the expo begins on Jan. 24. Get training and certifications, meet vendors, learn new techniques and much more.

Minneapolis Home + Remodeling Show

Feb. 2-4, 2024


A huge Midwest trade event with 25,000 attendees, the Minneapolis Home + Remodeling Show has more than just the typical lineup of panels and exhibitors — it has celebrity speakers! The 2024 event presents Tamara Day of HGTV’s Bargain Mansions, Lindsey Uselding and Kirsten Meehan of HGTV’s Renovation 911, and Virginia Chamlee, People magazine contributor and author of Big Thrift Energy. Plus, an adult ticket is only $12 at the door ($10 in advance).

* Surface Design Show

Feb. 6-8, 2024


Aimed at architects and designers, Surface Design Show presents the latest materials for built environments as well as offers many meet-and-greet opportunities with industry experts and product reps. You can also find out the winners of the Surface Design Awards.

* New York Build

Feb. 13-14, 2024

New York City

A free event, New York Build draws more than 35,000 architects, builders, engineers, real estate agents and other industry pros every year. The 2024 event will have more than 500 speakers across 12 tracks, more than 400 exhibitors, continuing education opportunities, networking parties and more. New York Build is particularly committed to efforts supporting women, diversity and inclusion in construction. One attendee who has been going for years calls it “a can’t-miss local event.”

* NAHB International Builders Show (IBS)

Feb. 27-29, 2024

Las Vegas

Billed as “the largest annual light construction show in the world,” IBS welcomed more than 70,000 visitors last year. It’s part of Design & Construction Week in Las Vegas and is a hub for residential construction pros that includes product launches, sessions with industry thought leaders, construction demos and many other opportunities to learn and network. At last count, more than 1,440 exhibitors were scheduled to attend.

* Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS)

Feb. 27-29, 2024

Las Vegas

Running alongside IBS in the same venue and with its own impressive numbers (including 450,000 square feet of exhibits and 550 vendors), KBIS is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2024. Touted as “the largest kitchen and bath expo in North America,” the event showcases industry products, trends and technologies as well as offers more than 80 educational sessions, including professional development courses to take care of continuing education units (CEUs).

* KBB Birmingham

March 3-6, 2024

Birmingham, England

Touted as the United Kingdom’s largest exhibition of kitchen, bedroom and bathroom brands and trends from around the world — and free to boot —  KBB Birmingham is aimed at residential, design, retail and contract pros. With thousands of visitors and more than 250 exhibiting brands from 20 countries, it offers the chance to see innovative new products in person. Also of note: This trade fair is strongly committed to sustainability. 

Associated Builders & Contractors Convention

March 13-15, 2024

Kissimmee, Florida

Held at an upscale resort, the ABC Convention 2024 welcomes its members to do more than just connect and learn; it features the National Craft Championships, the Construction Management Competition, the National Excellence in Construction Awards and the Construction Workforce Awards. Plus, attendees are encouraged to bring family members to enjoy the local attractions—you can think of the whole experience as a professionally productive vacation. 

* High Point Market

April 13-17, 2024

High Point, North Carolina

Designers continually rave about the High Point Market, which is the largest home furnishings industry trade show in the world. It has more than 12 million square feet of expo space and draws about 2,000 exhibitors every year. You can gain inspiration, make new business contacts and even have some fun, thanks to plenty of entertainment and social opportunities. Learn how to make the most of your time at High Point Market

* UK Construction Week

May 7-9, 2024, London

Oct. 1-3, 2024, Birmingham, England

Calling itself “the U.K.’s largest built environment event,” UK Construction Week has two incarnations: London and Birmingham. This free event boasts 4,000 industry speakers, 6,000 product exhibits and nine show sections, including Digital Construction and Net Zero. 

* AIA24 Conference on Architecture & Design

June 5-8, 2024

Washington, D.C.

The American Institute of Architects is behind AIA24, which welcomes those in the architecture, construction and engineering (ACE) sector. Last year’s event had more than 165 seminars, 20 workshops, tours of iconic local architecture and an expo with more than 500 brands. Master new skills, check out just-launched products, earn continuing education credits and more. 

National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Annual Conference

August 2024 (subject to change)

Location TBD

While it’s smaller than some other building events due to its targeted nature, the NAWIC Annual Conference offers three educational tracks, continuing education credits, jobsite tours and networking events. While the details of the 2024 event are yet to be announced, it’s worth keeping an eye on this if you’re one of the approximately 10% of women in the construction industry (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics).

* The Buildings Show

Fall 2024


This long-running show (35 years and counting) for construction pros presents more than a hundred conference sessions — panels, seminars and roundtables — alongside the show itself, which has more than 500 exhibitors. The Buildings Show typically draws more than 13,000 attendees and offers continuing education opportunities as well as chances to mingle with experts and fellow attendees. Keep an eye on the website for the 2024 date.

* EspritMeuble

Fall 2024


Dedicated to furniture, EspritMeuble offers a plethora of activities and events as well as showcases the winners of the M Awards for innovation. It usually attracts more than 300 exhibiting brands. Keep an eye on the website for the 2024 event, as the 2023 event is still in progress (Nov. 18-21). But be aware that most of the website is in French, so you might need some translation help.

* International Furniture Fair (IFF)

Fall 2024

Location TBD

IFF was still gearing up for its 2023 event (Nov. 12-13 in New York City) as we were putting this list together, but keep an eye out for the 2024 incarnation. This leading platform for contemporary furniture design showcases a wide range of products to an audience of 10,000 architects, interior designers, retailers and more. And of course there are panel discussions, networking opportunities and activities to foster socializing.

* London Build 

Fall 2024


London Build is a festival of construction that features more than 500 speakers, 350 exhibitors, workshops, entertainment and even celebrity guests. Among its stages this year are Diversity in Construction, Sustainability and Digital Construction. And of course there are plenty of networking events! Keep an eye on the website for the 2024 event, as the 2023 event is still in progress (Nov. 16-17). 

* CEDIA Expo

Sept. 5-7, 2024


The only show dedicated to residential technology pros, CEDIA Expo offers the chance to hear from experts and connect with like-minded pros. It promises to showcase cutting-edge innovation as well as present educational sessions that focus on new technologies, best practices and the latest industry developments. 

* Batimat

Sept. 30-Oct. 3, 2024


Targeted at construction pros, Batimat has “Building bridges between professionals and innovation” as its tagline. This year’s event intends to promote a proactive spirit for coming up with solutions to current challenges, and it will focus on four areas: Adaptation, Innovation, People and Local Governments. You can also find out the winners if the Innovation Awards

* Decorex

Oct. 6-9, 2024


A key event for interior design pros, Decorex presents furniture, fabric, lighting, decorative crafts, contemporary art, and more by an extensive range of brands and designers. Its keynotes and panel sessions by industry influencers will focus on topics tailored to interior designers, property developers, product designers and architects. 

* Chicago Build

Oct. 22-23, 2024


Chicago Build is the Midwest version of New York Build (see above), with a similar setup of workshops, seminars, exhibitors and networking parties. The 12 educational tracks include  topics such as the Future of Construction; Diversity & Inclusion; Sustainability, Health and Safety; and Digital Construction.
