Rustic Chic Interiors: How to get the Look!
The rustic-modern trend is one that I hope sticks around forever! It's such a welcome change from "Tuscan rustic" -- where everything matches and tries too hard to conjure a certain time period or look.
Becky's barn ideabook inspired me to look for ways to incorporate rustic elements into our homes in elegant and sophisticated ways. The trick is to not go overboard. Sometimes all it takes is one bench with natural aged wood or the perfect peeling paint to make a statement. Mix salvaged wood pieces with modern upholstery, contemporary chairs, and lots of white.

A rustic ceiling left as-is creates a huge impact in this kitchen. Keeping the rest of the materials and textures to a minimum keeps the look sophisticated.
I love this space! The reclaimed wood coffee table and stone fireplace add just the right amount of texture to an otherwise modern room.

The wall treatment, aged table and branch create a sophisticated vignette. I like the concept here, but would like to see a little more function.
