Cape Cod is a vacation hot spot due not only to its vicinity to amazing beaches and seafood, but also because of its historic seaside charm. The Winstead Inn & Beach Resort located in Harwich, MA, is the perfect place to enjoy everything Cape Cod has to offer.
If you are lucky enough to stay in the "Commodore's Quarters" prepare to be greeted with the soothing sounds of moving water and the rich textures of historic natural stone. This charming getaway reminds you of years past with STONEYARD® Boston Blend™ Mosaic, a local natural stone that was used as cladding, on retaining walls, stair risers, and in a water feature. Corner stones were used around the top of the retaining walls and water feature to maintain the look and feel of full thickness stones.

Located on the mid-cape in Orleans, MA, the sliding barn door entrance to this pool house faces east. It's the perfect location to take advantage of the morning sun on the bluestone patio with creeping thyme joints. The copper table is a gathering spot for breakfast with friends and family at this cape cod vacation home.

The landscape was designed for minimal maintenance. The bluestone walkway between the pool and the Cape Cod style barn is softened with creeping thyme. The pool has a hidden automatic pool cover, bluestone tiles and a pebble sheen finish. Two sides of the building have cedar sliding barn doors with copper screens and mission style door handles. The roof and walls are cedar shingles.

Taken at dusk, this view illustrates the bluestone patios proximity of the barn door egress to the pool house. The white painted wood interior doors within the barn provide access to a closet for storage and a bathroom. The traditional Cape Cod design includes cedar shake shingle roof and custom barn doors with forged hardware. The seating area has a table and seats created using reclaimed barn wood from the prior structure.

This view of the pool house is from the mahogany deck located off of the main house. It is surrounded by hydrangea. Custom built deep seated deck furniture provides an additional space for entertaining. The barn contains a garage and a pool storage area. The cedar shake shingles on the walls and roof require less maintenance than painted siding. They are ideal in the harsh Cape Cod climate.

April 2012=Before Picture
We just finished installing this landscape....there are over 200 perennials planted in the front gardens so I will upload more pictures in another week or so as things start to explode with blooms.

Catmint (Nepeta) frames the full color cleft bluestone pavers. The hardscape patio overlooks Stage Harbor in Chatham, MA. The stairs are reclaimed granite.

The floor of this two story barn is poured concrete with a resin finish. The sliding barn doors open onto a bluestone terrace that contains creeping thyme in the joints. The reclaimed lumber table and mid-century modern seating make for an inviting place to relax near the pool.
