This rooftop garden on Manhattan's Upper East Side features 6' high black bamboo fencing, pet-friendly artificial turf, a circular metal arbor to grow wisteria vines on, contemporary grey wicker furnishings, a daybed, and black fiberglass planters. The owners of this terrace wanted to be able to look out their windows and have a sense of being in their own private oasis. Plantings include weeping Japanese maples, cherry trees, arborvitaes, ornamental grasses, Knockout roses, variegated euonymus, purple coneflowers, purple violas, and creeping Jenny. View Of Bay
Up against the house drifts of detail plantings such as native mullien and exotics such as allium and libertia mingle at the edges of salah and kinnikinnick used in the wilder landscape. Stairs lead down to the beach.

We love the night and day transformation this garden took on when our client requested a zen garden for her backyard in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. It’s always fun to be asked to design a garden with so many charming creative elements. Our re-design included brown bamboo fencing to cover a very bright white vinyl fence, a fountain, loose grey stones, dark brown deck tiles, contemporary furnishings, a stone Japanese lantern statue, and white fiberglass planters. The plantings include cherry laurels, bamboo, a red weeping maple, moss, grasses, and variegated euonymus. Overhead globe lights add a cheerful nighttime touch. Espaliered apple trees, sedum ground cover and Nemesia soften the side of the architecture in the drive court. The material of the drive court is distressed concrete slab with open lawn joints to add an interesting design component and aid in stormwater management.

A dramatic entry with brick piers and apron opening to an asphalt driveway, ending in a drive court detailed with a cushwa brick medallion inlay. The drive is lined with the same brick curb that pulls from the brick inlay above the great window at the homes entry. The apron is also trimmed with a soldier course of brick. The hedge is boxwood, underplanted with hosta and ground cover. The gardens in the background are filled with 'Tina' crabapple, Hydrangea, boxwood, and Pachysandra ground cover.
