This project was a labor of love by the homeowner. He built the fencing and gate himself and was searching for just the right gate hardware to outfit the cedar gate. He chose the Dark Bronze 8” Thumb Latch with Straight Drop Bar. It seems like the perfect choice for their gate’s design.

On the verge of a move across the country, these homeowners built a beautiful gate and fence line in their yard. The contemporary lines of the fence is simply lovely (see full photos of the finished project at photographer Eva Brennan’s site: http//www.evabrennan.com/1/post/2013/09/mission-accomplished.html).
The family used two different latches: The Modern Tapered Ring Latch and the Stainless Steel Ring Latch. They chose 10” Stainless Steel Strap Hinges with Pintles, as well as 18” Cranked Band Hinges. The finished product was really a really wonderful gift to leave for their neighbors! Eva Brennan (www.evabrennan.com)

The ‘finished’ side of the gate and fence is the interior (the patio side) where the boards sit proud of the posts. The builder used 6x6 posts for the fence, as well as for the framing members of the wooden gate. Because there is a step down from the patio, the gate swings out to the communal walkway.

The client has a contemporary Southwestern style home in Southern Oregon. To accentuate their Spanish style courtyard, they created a decorative wooden gate. Built by Scott Jensen Construction of Jacksonville, Oregon, the Spanish style gate features a dark bronze gate latch with lever. The texture on the latch fits with the rustic feel, while the lever gives it a contemporary look.
Note the wood gate stop attached to the stucco wall. The stop protects the latch's arm (on the inside of the gate) from bending and breaking.

This double wooden gate included a split into 1/3 - 2/3 to create an enclosed courtyard in the carport area. There were children at the property, and so stoutness of hardware as well as security were of utmost importance. The home is a Craftsman style, and the gates were built to complement that. The hardware chosen was made of solid bronze to coordinate with the Craftsman appearance.

Living in a traditional home in Palo Alto, California, the clients decided to create a more contemporary look with their outdoor renovation. They built a driveway gate with two doors to enclose the backyard in order to keep their children and dogs safe. The fence and gate were built two-sided, with an internal metal frame clad with 1-by material installed horizontally across the framing.

In this photo, you are viewing the exterior (walkway) side of the gate and fence. Budget was reduced by not applying the horizontal wood fence and gate boards to the exterior. Pull the gate toward you and step up into a private retreat patio.

This new home could not be more ideally situated! It’s perched on Newport Bay in California and has gorgeous views out the back of the house. The client chose a crisp contemporary white color for the paint and then wanted to accent that with black curb appeal items.
For the exterior side gates, the client chose the Modern Gate Latch with Tapered Ring Handle. At the lovely entry, a Nero Contemporary Gate Latch adorns the courtyard gate. At the far end of the garage doors to the left is the #10 Mailbox, a modern wall-mount mailbox.
