This is actually a game room! We didn't like the played-out arcade thing - more appropriate for a basement with no natural light - so I procured plaster ceiling tracery and went to town with motifs. Since we didn't want to guild the lily, and we didn't want anything too dark, we stuck with citrusy yellows. I love showing that you can use colors like brown and yellow without a big fuss. I think it works, no?!

Grouped with the transitional style sofas and club chairs are objects that are gothic in style. The bench blends perfectly with the dwarf breakfront and is topped with a fabric called "Gothick" that is based on medieval tracery patterns. The coffee table, named Hermitage abstracts traditional motifs in a more transitional way. The four chandeliers and two wall sconces on the columns relate to the timeless nature of the room's theme. The ornamental plaster ceiling is reminiscent of such grand rooms. Clothing the floor is an enormous French Aubusson carpet.

The double height living/dining room in pale tones to highlight the colorful modern art. Comfy sofas and chairs anchored by a fine Oriental carpet. Decorative plaster work designed by us for the space adorns the spandrels that separate the 2 levels of windows. The pattern was inspired by the understated tracery pattern on the drapes and valence.
