Inspiration for a huge contemporary spiral open and glass railing staircase remodel in Nice

The 2024 Southern Living Idea House is a new build that fits perfectly into the lush countryside. Designer and architect Kirsten Schoettelkotte’s design was inspired by the historic farmsteads and traditional architectural styles of South Carolina’s Lowcountry. The home has a wide front porch, brick stairway, copper gutters, and a standalone carriage house. The house’s design blended the indoor and outdoor spaces to take full advantage of the surrounding natural environment. “[Nearly] every room in the house has a window, and that was intentional,” said Schoettelkotte. Multiple Marvin products from the Ultimate and Elevate collections were selected for the home. Their durability and customization ability were a perfect fit for the project. This striking glass elevator is proof it is never too late to make your home accessible. The elevator tower was added to the exterior of this multistory house to provide access to all five levels. The combination of the tower’s windows and the windows incorporated into the elevator’s cab lets natural light shine into the home while ensuring the gorgeous view of the private, woodland backyard is never obstructed. This home elevator project was a true marvel that allows the homeowners to age in place and enjoy their beautiful woodland oasis home for many years to come.

The Pneumatic Vacuum Elevator requires no recess in the slab as conventional models and is ideal for projects where space is limited. The round free standing cab unit is both sculptural and contemporary blending well in contemporary and transitional structures.

Mountain Peek is a custom residence located within the Yellowstone Club in Big Sky, Montana. The layout of the home was heavily influenced by the site. Instead of building up vertically the floor plan reaches out horizontally with slight elevations between different spaces. This allowed for beautiful views from every space and also gave us the ability to play with roof heights for each individual space.
