Our client approached with an old photographed of her house in the 1800's in its original glory and asked if we could recreate the exterior facade to match the photo. When we started the project, the whole home was covered in vinyl siding and suffered a leaking roof and porch. We stripped everything down to the original sheathing and applied a layer of foam and moisture barrier to properly protect the home. From there we applied custom crown and trim molding and piece-by-piece were able to achieve the stated goal for the exterior look while also enabling it to last another 100+ years.

Custom gate was built wrong by the previous contractor. It was not built to withstand the La Jolla climate. It rotted quickly. So we removed the gate and rebuilt it from scratch. We applied two things to help protect this gate from future damage: 1. We epoxied the top edges. 2. We applied a metal drip edge on the top of the gate to resist moisture.

With a layer of paste wax applied to the surface of the piece, the beautiful ray flake grain patterns will emerge while adding more protection from staining and moisture.

New drainage was laid to draw moisture away and a waterproofing membrane was applied to the inner walls which were then battened and gypsum boarded and plastered.
