This building is one of several remaining A.W. Pattiani houses in Alameda and Berkeley, but required a concerted effort to restore the original defining details and make sense of poorly designed additions to the house.

"Over the last couple of years I have made a concerted effort to pair down our belongings."
Minimalist style is taking over the decor world and crisp white shutters help in making that look possible.

This kitchen addition project is an expansion of an old story and a half South Bozeman home.

This old house has been remodeled and added onto many times over. A complete demolition and rebuild of this structure would be the best course of action, but we are in a historic neighborhood and we will be working with it as is. Budget is an issue as well, so in addition to the second story addition, we are limiting our renovation efforts to the kitchen and bathroom areas at the back the house. We are making a concerted effort to not get into too much of the existing front half of this house.
This is precisely the type of remodeling work that requires a very skilled and experienced builder. And I emphasize experienced. We are lucky to be working with Luke Stahlberg of Ibex Builders. Luke is a talented local Bozeman contractor with years of experience in the remodeling industry. Luke is very methodical and well organized. This is a classic remodeling project with enough detail to really test a contractor’s skill and experience.

Last Concert Café has been a Tex-Mex & music staple for over 70 years in Houston. What many don’t realize is that the property’s history goes back to the mid 1800s. While the café was established in 1949 and was the first woman-owned café in post-World War II Houston, parts of the dining area were originally built in the mid 1800s, and served as brothels up until the 1970s.
The Last Concert Café officially received its status as a historic landmark from the City of Houston in 2011. In 2019 efforts began to clean up & restore the buildings without cleaning out the history and persona that had developed over time.
My work included renovating the two residential buildings used as additional dinning spaces, renovating the main dining and bar area as well as the kitchen expansion and remodel.

Since we were introducing Modernist, sustainable residential design to this old urban neighborhood, we made a concerted effort to recall architectural elements from the existing structures. Front porches, created and shaded by cantilevered upper forms, pay tribute to the importance of "public" outdoor space in these and all historic Southern homes. The houses address the sidewalk at the same distance as neighboring houses and floor-to-ceiling windows on the lower levels engage the neighborhood while high windows on the upper levels provide privacy for the personal spaces there. This project won in the 2013 Builders Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh Housing Excellence Award for Best Urban Renewal Renovation Project. The glass bowl was made in the glass studio owned by the owner which is adjacent to the residence. The mirror is a repurposed window. The door is repurposed from a boarding house.

A successful concert is all about dynamics: both in music, and the orchestration behind the scenes. Musicians and crew have to play in perfect sync. From load-in to load-out, everything needs to move smoothly and efficiently.
That’s just the problem that the Devon Lakeshore Amphitheater was facing: with acts booked every weekend of the summer, it had become an inefficient use of time, money and effort to load them all in and out of the venue without an optimal access point to the stage. The team was looking for a way to have a directly accessible loading dock, so that trucks could pull up and load in from behind the stage, but still have the view closed off from audiences with a partition in front. Adding to their challenge was that the doors this would require weighed 2,000 lbs each. That’s where RW came in strong.
