This home on the Eastern Shore of Maryland began as a modest 1927 home with a central hall plan. Renovations included reversing the kitchen and dining room layout , adding a large central island and hood to anchor the center of the kitchen. The island has a walnut counter encircling the working island and accommodates additional seating. The main sink looks out to the north with beautiful water views. The southwest bay window affords a seating area with built-in bookshelves adjoining the breakfast room while the one in the kitchen provides for the secondary sink and clean-up area. By capturing the additional depth in the bay window, a large TV is concealed below the countertop and can emerge with a press of a button or retract out of sight to enjoy views of the water. A separate butler's pantry and wine bar were designed adjoining the breakfast room. The original fireplace was retained and became the center of the large Breakfast Room. Wood paneling lines the Breakfast Room which helps to integrate the new kitchen and the adjoining spaces into a coherent whole, all accessible from the informal entry. A young family moving from NYC tackled a lightning fast makeover of their new colonial revival home before the arrival of their second child. The kitchen area was quite spacious but needed a facelift and new layout. Painted cabinetry matched to Benjamin Moore’s Light Pewter is balanced by grey glazed rift oak cabinetry on the island. Shiplap paneling on the island and cabinet lend a slightly contemporary edge. White bronze hardware by Schaub & Co. in a contemporary bar shape offer clean lines with some texture in a warm metallic tone. White Marble countertops in “Alpine Mist” create a harmonious color palette while the pale blue/grey Waterworks backsplash adds a touch of color. This tiny 8'x9' sunporch has just enough space to nap on the green velvet sofa, read in the 1927 wicker recliner (press the button on the sun-struck arm and the back reclines) or write letters at the knee hole desk (out of view next to the recliner) . The chalk painted electric fire place keeps the owners and the plants warm in the wintertime, while nearly 100 year old wooden floors hold memories of easy afternoons. That's a lot of life packed in to this jewel box.

Perfect for golf enthusiast! Tech Tonic Consultants from Chicago designed this multi-screen golf and entertainment space that is completely automated. Simple to use, yet sophisticated under the hood, the homeowner presses one button to activated the Golf Simulator. Tech Tonic then designed the systems to integrate all of their audio and video sources to be played in a 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround environment. With an additional 64" screen at the ready waiting players may also watch their favorite sporting event or car show. Lights and climate are also integrated to simple control system.
