Timber screens assist in passive heating and cooling strategies. Rainwater is collected and re-used for gardening and toilet flushing. The elevated house ensures views onto the tree canopy.

Universal design strategies were used in this Primary Suite to accommodate a client with ALS. The curb less shower with teak bench and hand held shower and large entry door allow for assistance. Grab bars in both the shower and toilet area are also beneficial.

This project won in the 2013 Builders Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh Housing Excellence Award for Best Urban Renewal Renovation Project. The glass bowl was made in the glass studio owned by the owner which is adjacent to the residence. The mirror is a repurposed window. The door is repurposed from a boarding house. George Mendel

The homeowners wanted a stylish new kitchen, inclusive of new cabinets, countertops and backsplash. They requested that we upgrade their builder’s grade cabinets to a brighter white kitchen. Acquire a whole new look with new cabinets in Madison style doors and drawer. Build quality, custom cabinets with a sophisticated look and feel. The creamy white Colourtone doors have Coffee glaze offset the stark white look beautifully. The new kitchen’s color and style design is inviting and enriches the home’s overall décor. We created a kitchen showplace that the homeowners could be proud by incorporating design details that would make their kitchen unique 1. Installed new cabinets, doors, drawers, glass fronts, cabinet details, tile backsplash and flip open basement windows. Used light colors to brighten up the space. 2. Additions of interior storage and a custom wine rack to maximize storage and functionality. This would also assist while entertaining guests. 3. Stay within budget: The Designer’s strategy to install new cabinets while staying within budget would be challenge however, we gave them end- of-year discounts to help with the costs.  We were asked to assist our clients with big-picture-planning for their newest investment property. Upon initial walk through of the home, it was immediately evident there were many previous ‘bandaid-type’ updates that it had gone through over the years. This house was in prime need of an overhaul inside and out: - multiple dropped Ceilings with layers of Plumbing add ons - wall to wall Carpet -a tired Bathtub directly inside the Master Bedroom - a “dreaded” Corner Kitchen Sink -multiple add ons involving three confusing front entry doors Discovering what was previously done and the quandary of why these things were done is always so interesting to discover and can be very overwhelming for clients. A big part of what we love most about Design is helping to propose new ideas to revitalize and improve all that has come before. It is one of the most challenging and rewarding parts of our work. Our Renovation Strategy began in Layout Design for optimizing Interior & Exterior flow, moving into Concept & Style Planning, Millwork and Finish Selections. We then created an ordered implementation sequence which would allow the homeowners to live on one floor while the other was being renovated Later they would move to the finished floor and renovate the remaining areas.
