Texas native grasses and flowers enliven the front entry of this north Dallas modern house. Five-foot rows and a grove of trees recall the site's farming and pecan-growing past. In early spring the daffodils come up first, and as they die back the Mexican feather grass fills in.

Purple Winecups are a great ground cover for Texas which bloom in early Spring and prefer sun, part shade. In the background are Agave, Blackfoot Daisy, Yellow Primrose and Mexican Feather Grass

With the up-and-coming neighborhood of Crestview changing daily, these clients wanted to finish off their remodel by updating their landscape to fit their style, and the modernized neighborhood. With their home already having some modern/contemporary lines and design elements, it was easy to expanded and shadow that within the landscape. By creating predominate features like these metal box planters, we needed to keep the plant pallet simple, and chic. We used a pallet of very architectural plants, low maintenance native plants, and topped it off with a top dress of Decomposed Granite for a pop of color and sense of durability.

This beautiful English-inspired garden features Mexican bush sage, gulf muhly grass, blackfoot daisy, moonbeam coreopsis, coneflower, and rosemary.

From the street, a round rock pathway leads to a small seating area next to the water with a small fire pit. Low maintenance, drought resistant and salt tolerant plantings were used in mass and clumps.
