There is a tube steel structure that supports the woven wire mesh screen. The vertical tube steel is about 3'-0" from the face of the building. The structure then wraps over the roof, ultimately making a connection to the roof. The owner of this building is originally from Texas and shade was a tremendous priority.

In regards to the overhang, it is a bent 1/4" steel plate. The vertical leg tucks up and under the metal siding, while the horizontal leg becomes the overhang. Simple concept, but requires a good contractor. Hope this helps.
